I looked for the time for the swap, but couldn't find it. I imagine it will go from around 8am-2pm. I'm taking a few hens, some cuckoo marans newly hatched chicks and eggs.
I looked in on my broody hen today and the eggs that were supposed to be chicks tomorrow are chicks today! She was on 9 eggs and 8 have hatched. She is still covering the 9th egg. I love broodies.
I have a hen on eggs due to hatch Monday. Wanted to remind those in the West Tn area that the West Tennessee Poultry Club will have our first meeting/sale and swap at the Tractor Supply in Millington,Tn on 3-5. You can get more details by visiting the Board...http://poultryclub.proboards.com/
I hate possums almost as much as I hate coons. Sorry about the broody. I have a broody that has been on eggs for almost 2 weeks. She's one of myt marans hens. They are very good marans. I hav e her in a small dog house we re-modled and I don't think she's moved off the eggs more than a couple...
I sure am loving this weather. I am so ready for Spring. My first broody will hatch out in a little over a week and I have eggs in a friends incubater. Life is good!

So, can someone explain what you do at a poultry club? Like, do people bring chickens and swap stuff... or is it more like sitting in McD's chatting about chickens I'd like to go to one of them but wasn't sure what to do or if I should bring anything....
I can't speaak for others, but...
I just placed an order for 25 red sex link chicks. Getting ready to set some marans eggs and I may have my first broody of the year. Can you tell I am ready for Spring?

I wish I could find a better feed. The one I feed is 16% protein and costs $10.95. The CO-OP brand is cheaper and I can get higher protein, but the pellets are so large, the chickens don't like it.
My cuckoo marans are due to hatch this weekend. If anyone in West Tn (around Jackson) is interested, send me a PM. I have both clean and feather shank incubating.
