I'm so glad many of you are finally getting some rain. We had two days with some rain as well but agree that we could all use several more 1/2 inch rain days. Happy 4th to you all!! Quick rooster question, when do roos come to maturity to where they'll actually fertilize? Ours just found their...

I opted for apple cider vinegar in the drinking water and all birds are perky and healthy looking. No idea what we had going on but hopefully it's over.

I'm leaning toward needing a dewormer. I mean they are old, but a few in a row is more likely something communicable. Thinking about getting SafeGuard (for goats). Anyone know what the dosage would be for the chickens and Theo (dog)?

None of the sick ones (or healthy) have any sneezing or respiratory symptoms at all tho. I did google it as well.

Hey all! Quick question, I have some three year old birds that are dying off one after another. Symptoms: comb flops over, turns purplish, low energy, feathers kinda droopy, then they eventually just die. I have no idea what I'm dealing with but I know the first one battled it for months, the...

Happy Friday!! Nathan and I got the 2023 garden all planted. We are expecting rain all weekend, so no watering for us. Now we pray for a bountiful harvest. Chicks were moved out to the coop a few days ago, the upper portion, and are doing well. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm off to...

Cleaned out the coop today and scrubbed the upper portion with ash and water to prep for the babies to go in. Oddly enough, tomorrow is supposed to be 80 so that should help dry out the plywood in there. Then I'll throw in some DE and ash when I add the pine shavings. In the process of prep for...

Good Saturday to you all! Sorry to hear that many of you still have snow. Temps are just under 40 here today but no snow sticking on the ground. I picked up a new batch of chicks today: salmon faverolles, d'uccles, and easter eggers. As always their fluffy butts are too cute!

Jim that had to have been a pretty amazing site with those turkeys!! Yah no snow on the ground here anymore and I'm not sad about it. This winter can be over as far as I'm concerned. Ilovemychicks08 - where are you located?

Evening all! 🙋🏻‍♀️ We've got our trees trapped down here and now we wait. They are flowing steadily so the wait won't be long. I bet I'll have enough tomorrow night to pull off. Oh Jim...so glad to hear good ole Ollie is still with us 🤣🤣. But no seriously I was happy to hear you still had...

I've also placed an order for chicks. Mine arrive April 21. It doesn't get warm enough (even here) and I like mine out of the house. They are too dusty inside. We are expecting snow tomorrow. It was 6-10 inches and now it's 3-6. If I could redo my career I'd be a meteorologist!!

Here we've got 3 of 7 chicks laying now, so far 2 brown and one olive. We finally got our 1st rain last week, TG...

Jim-Theo is not intact. We are concerned with him as he does have some sort of knee/hip issue. The vet says it's luxating patella, but it seems like it's also hips to us. I often wonder what the life span is for maremmas, do you know? How old was Frankie when you put her down?
