Would goats or sheep be a better option? I milk the Shetland sheep without issue. Small (about up to my knee), eat your lawn (untreated, of course), hay and mineral and are pretty easy keepers. Plus you get wool :)

They'll be like stewed carrots. You have to pressure can them. You can dehydrate them though. Then you can sprinkle them in with whatever you're cooking. Or you can do honeyed carrots. :)

I finally started chopping out tomato plants. I'm so sick of them. I'm to the point where I'd rather buy store stuff than deal with them. Next year, ALL volunteers will be weeded out and composted. I want to grow those big paste tomatoes that you just toss in a pot, cook and blend. I'm over...

A bung is a rubber cork. :) An airlock is something that you fill with water that is designed to let air out, but not back in, so your cO2 from the yeast farts can escape, but no air containing wild yeasts/bacteria can get back in. It basically helps to keep it pure and unadulterated so it...

You don't need much. A glass container, a bung and an airlock for in it. I've made it, then put into canning jars and it was okay. I've since bought a corker and have wine bottles and the like. You'd obviously need a yeast and juice or fruit as well.

The older ram lamb (grey) and the ewe lamb are sold. The only little guy remaining is the one with white spotting over his body and face.

If you want milk, go for a milking breed. Scour your classifieds for a solar charger and any fencing equipment you can find. Wire sucks used, but the posts and charger are just fine used. It will make your life much easier in the long run. Goats can be a real PITA with escaping and destroying...

Yeah, I am hoping to put goose on the menu this year. If I get any mean ones, they'll make the menu for sure, lol.

That's weird! Sebbies and Toulouse are supposed to be friendly. I've never had a problem with any of ours, but then again, I don't tolerate nasty behavior. If you're mean, you get eaten here. I refuse to keep or even give away or sell a mean animal. I NEVER allow a problem animal to leave our...

I have Sebbies and Toulouse. They're about the same size, but the sebbies weigh less. Mine are all great, but I suppose any gander has the potential to be a little grouchy if he's defending his nest. The main thing you have to remember is that you're encroaching on your aunt's geese's...

The pictures were both of the same little ram lamb. I'm still waiting on my other ewe to lamb. She was due on the 1st, but they sure like to take their time! :D The one sebbie goose was keeping me company and grooming me while I sat out and sunbathed today. :D

You can feed a 20% protein feed to poults. I raise everything here with a 20% layer ration and don't have any problems. Poults, ducks, quail, peafowl, etc.

The feed mill here says that people buy it up like crazy before a storm. I buy when I feel like going down there, so I stock up and don't worry about storms, lol.
