Sally, I have no idea! Somehow it looks like they developed cocci? None of my other birds have it, are all thrifty and eating like horses. I have no idea what happened with them?

I thought I'd give everyone an update on the Silkie chicks that April let me have. It took me 2.5 weeks but it finally happened. Somehow I murdered them. A new record for me. Never even attempting Silkies again!

Trust me. I tried. You can't...unless you want to pay $150 for the person to do the testing. Ridiculous.

Betta, give her a bit of enteric coated aspirin. Shove it down her throat if you have to. It will help relieve the swelling and open up the blood vessels again.

I'm kinda nervous about this. Ice storms in Oklahoma means no power for 3 plus weeks. I don't want to do that right now thank you very much! I can't afford to lose power right now! I've got eggs in the incubator daggnabbit!

The neighbors a few doors down have some turkeys. I just know they are gonna join the wild flock that likes to scare the crap out of me. Has anyone heard about this ice storm supposedly coming through? How bad is it supposed to be?

We are storing it until we move at the end of February. March 1, we will be back in Oklahoma. Not that I don't love ya'll, but I do miss food that doesn't always taste sweet or salty. A little spicy can go a LONG way! :D We have to have the house mostly cleared out so that prospected buyers...

Oh LORD no. The packing has only been minimal at best. We're procrastinators. But...this weekend I WILL take some stuff to the storage unit. Chickens will be in cages/storage containers inside of a UHaul trailer pulled by my Mother-in-Law/Father-in-Law. My horse will be transported via the...

Still waiting on these eggs to hatch. Not so much as a pip from them. It's ok...they looked a few days behind. I figured that was from the big trip here. Now I have to clean up the house...anyone looking for a cheap dresser and chest of drawers set for their kids? I have one and we are...

heatherscooby, Do you have any Nutri-Drench there? For ynthrifty chicks you can give them a squirt of it into their drinking water. Gives some much needed vitamins, minerals and energy, love that stuff!

The average weight for my birds is anywhere from 10 lbs. to 12 lbs. The legs and breast are where your real meat will be. They grow VERY slowly but luckily, bad attitudes are just not usually seen in the standards. Females are usually around 7-8 lbs. With large females reaching 9 lbs. Boy do...

It is in a way. I've made some awesome friends up here. And of course, given Langshan fever to a select few... ;) But, we are happy to be moving back with our families close by, no need for 4WD vehicles and where the speed limits are 75mph! And, thank goodness, where Sonic is and where...
