Oh boy...its been how long now? Long enough that our homemade plastic "brooder box" shattered when we got it out last night. But how do you say no to free chicks and hopeful grandsons? Here we grow again!

Wow! I've been gone forever! I will never catch up, so I'll just jump right in here and say Hello again everyone! Seems like southeast Kansas was about the only place that didn't get slammed last week with winter weather, so hope everyone has thrived and survived it all. Checoukan, we...

Bridget from Michigan - that just moved to SE Kansas - have you found us here yet? There's a few people in your neighborhood that would love to meet you! I just gotta get home from my mom's! We have had a great time while I recover, but my knees feel pretty good now, and I have to go back to...

Sharing thanks that my son-in-law has returned from another deployment. He has been gone for just over 9 months. My two older grandsons are SO excited to have their daddy home! The youngest, who was less than a week old when Daddy deployed, is still working on it.

Oh Danz - I hope you don't wait as long as I did! I kept fighting work comp to help pay for mine. Post office challenged me for 6 years while I continued to walk 12-15 miles a day! They insisted that I never proved a "causal relationship" even though I walked a mail route for 16 years! My...

Okay Ivy - question for you. I'm 4 weeks into bilateral total knees, so how long do I have to wait before I CAN run again? Doctor said I could play ball again someday if I let him do this, and though it's tempting that wasn't my reason for finally getting them done. HowEVER, I do have some...

Hi guys! Don't think I'll even TRY to catch up with everything! Everyone is so busy! Anyone remember me asking about giving Miss Nellie an egg to hatch? Well ... we did ... and she did! We were afraid we had lost the babies what with moving them around etc, but one of them made it! The...

Made for poultry but when I tried it my dogs liked it better than my chickens did! And boy oh boy did it ever firm up their poops! Biiggest you know whats I ever saw! And all nicely rolled in all the grains they couldn't digest! I had to go back to my green pastures mix to get everyone back...

Well - you're right. I tried it while I was away from the computer. Shoulda just stayed put, cause that's what Nellie did. She just went back to the empty box. So ... she can have it. The other girls can just use the test nests! We'll see what happens. Maybe we'll get a couple new babies...

OK. Thanks to Avery and her friend, Miss Nellie has something to look forward to. Put a couple started easter eggers under her last night. Now for another question. We nearly had a chicken riot in the back yard this morning! Nellie left the community box long enough to get a drink and eat...

We've had my daughter's lab since the day the new baby was born. Had the baby (now 1 month old) for an hour this morning. Looks to me like Lexi thinks the baby is ok. Maybe it's time for the dog to go home.

Oh I feel so sorry for my Miss Nellie! She has decided to go broody! I find her every evening very carefully warming the day's bounty in the community nest! And every evening I take them all away! Poor thing - she doesn't know there won't be any babies and she is doing her best to keep...

That's encouraging! I'm getting BOTH of mine replaced in May. Too many miles and too many steps delivering mail - I can't WAIT to be able to walk pain free! I keep telling my grandsons that they better learn to RUN because I WILL catch them! Glad Ivy's getting along ok!

HaHa! 6 year old Kale reached down to pet one of my orps and of course she immediately squatted. 4 year old Kace was so excited: "Look Nana she's practicing!"

I've been growing my own mealworms, but I saw dried ones at Orscheln's last week. I bet most of your farm supply stores would have them in the poultry sections. Pet shops sometimes sell live ones for lizard food and there used to be somebody on BYC that ships them.

Hi Avery - not happenin! I was actually just named the new supervisor in Parsons this last week. So .... MY new truck was not the best investment for driving back and forth to work every day! We finally bought the Ford SuperCrew I've always wanted, and then I get a position 30 miles away...
