Hi all! It's been forever since I've dropped in. I wanted to let everyone know that I'm ok. We were next to evacuation zones but thanks to favorable topography & wind direction, we are safe & sound. Just a lot of smoke. I hope all of you are well too.
Hi all! It's been forever since I've checked in here. I hope everyone's flock are well.
Any one have any hatching eggs of any breed? I am looking for up to 6 standard-sized eggs or 9 bantam-sized eggs. I am in Fairfield & would be willing to drive about 1 hour one way. I have a broody modern...
Ron's advice is spot-on. I have a misting system thanks to him.
I also got a small round rubber feed trough - I fill it halfway with water & place frozen gallon-sized water jugs in each hot morning. The birds will wade right in & cool off.
I am really off my game. I didn't think to set anything up ahead of time.
I will, however, be willing to come to you to get some.
Would you let me know when you have a dozen + or - collected, if that's ok?
Thank you!!
Hi all! Its been awhile since I've been on here. I am ISO harching eggs for olive eggers (F2 preferred). I lost mine this winter. Willing to drive to pickup. Thank you!
Cool!
I was thinking that it looked like an olive egg with a dark brown wash over it but that's just a wild guess.
Glad to hear that you have some more UofA blues. :)
Are you all ready for the next craze?
Behold, the black olive egger...
The top center egg was reported to have been laid by the following cross:
"dad is an Ice cream Bar (Crested Cream Legbar/Isbar mix) Mom is a Blue Marans/Welsummer mix.
Sky should be an olive egger but seems to like laying...
Ron,
Do you have a timer that comes on multiple times a day?
If so, what kind is it?
Im have a beast of a time finding one that i can get to come on, say, every other hour starting at 11sm to 7pm.
Something with multiple start times for 1 zone.

Meet the latest addition to "The Island of Misfit Chickens":
Marty Feldman
It is a midget white turkey poult hatched yesterday.
It seems to be blind in addition to the bulging eyes (a genetic deformity).
Here's a comparison pic:
I plan to gove it a forever home as long as its not suffering.
Well, DANG. I live within a mile of the Cemetery.
I always enjoy meeting up with chicken folk. :)
Aren't the grounds there beautiful? I love the stone church.
Oh my lord, what have i gotten myself into?
19 silver-laced orpington chicks with 5 chocolate cuckoo orps sent as packing peanuts.
Actually, its a dream come true.
