Time & practice & trying different techniques will speed up your time but it still takes me 45 mins but I only do it these days to help others learn how. I bet Debi (PetRock) & Monet & their farm group do it in a lot less time. They have a Whiz bang or something like that & do a mass processing...

I used un medicated chick starter for mine. Maybe next time I'll try your way. I use vinegar in the boiling water when boiling the eggs. It softens the shells & they peel off like soft rubber. The pickling recipe varies a lot according to individuals taste. My main ingredients are red wine...

A couple years back I answered a Craigslist ad from a guy that lived in a town about an hour & 1/2 from me here in Turlock. I can't recall the name of the town at the moment. I remember we went through Oakdale & out 26 mile road. He had a quail farm out in the middle of no where. I bought quail...

I think Steve Orique may have some in Escalon/Valley Home area. He is a dual 4H leader for Stanislaus & San Joaquin counties. He runs the sales area at the show you were at last Saturday. Another chicken Lovin' friend of mine got hers from him. He told me years ago that they are his favorite.

Hi Deann, I too rarely come on here anymore. I have cut so far back that all I kept was my BCMs, but Jules has a lot of things I used to have if I ever get the itch again....LOL. I am too decrepid to physically do all that is required to do it right so I busy myself with simple indoor projects...

We have a rather small koi pond in our backyard that we have seen little tracks in the mud around it & assumed them to be racoons, but we have a lot of oppossums around here. We see them all the time but never see the racoons.

No problem..I don't do bantams but think they would be great for kids just starting out. My grand daughter was afraid of her Australorps when I got them for her when she was 9. She was small for her age & they were huge. Really nice birds from Bruce Sherman though. I do plan to go to the show...

Easter Eggers are a mixed breed for colored eggs, not purebred APA chickens. Ameracuanas are & would & would lay blue eggs for the kids.

As I said in a previous post ....my husband says the Delli rooster has started roosting in the wood shop since we put him out as free range. Ari my very old free range EE is my Yardmaster & has been free range for years & always will be. He is the one I hatched out of a huge very blue egg many...
