It would depend on what she looks like. AMs have a certain shape that is not found in hatchery EEs. They also have cleaner genetics than is found in the hatchery EEs. If your bird is a cross of two AMs then you know her genetics and (as long as the soles of her feet are NOT yellow) you can...

We will wait for better pictures, but I don't see anything that says "boy" to me. AM Easter Eggers, yes - those colors do not look correct for the Breed. If all you wanted was some blue egg layers, chances are pretty good you got them.

Congratulations on your new babies! They are adorable, but they are not Ameraucanas. They are Americanas and they are called Easter Eggers on this site. We have our own thread to celebrate these wonderful friendly birds...

They both appear to me to be color mixes, sorry. The Buff colored bird has blue in her tail and wings - and the Wheaten colored bird has buff wings. That happens with a color cross. For breeding purposes the Buff could be bred back to a Buff male and the Wheaten could be bred to a Wheaten and...

I am unsure on the flighty part, but I do know aggression is passed from the rooster to his children. I would use the regal rooster...

Its a rooster - and it is not an Ameraucana. Start a post in the "what breed is this" section and maybe somebody can guess what he is. Oh, and Welcome to BYC!

My guess on that would be a newbie not sure how to quote and post properly. I seriously doubt it was directed at anybody's post.

Hello and Welcome to BYC Please join us over on the Easter Egger thread, as your AmerIcanas are not Ameraucanas and they are called Easter Eggers on this site. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/273489/the-ee-braggers-thread/12980#post_12351383 This thread is for discussing the breeding and...

I would call that sun bleaching. I had leakage - and it was VERY obviously gold - in any light.

We are happy to help you find breeders of purebred Ameraucanas. Perhaps you did not start off on the best foot by posting your birds here and insisting they were purebred. You obviously read enough to know they are called EEs - leaving out the pictures and just asking for help would have been...

Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

My EEs lay lovely Blue eggs, but I have some older ones that lay green. There are no guarantees that AMs will lay blue eggs and their eggs do range all over shades of blue and also even green or white or tan also. It depends on what the breeder is going for. If they get some birds that only...

She is a hatchery Americana (Easter Egger) in full molt. All my hatchery birds look like that right now. They aren't the best for plumage - and the hatcheries have crossed them with leghorns to up the egg production.

Your bird is a pullet, and she is an EE. Pretty girl - come over and join us on the EE braggers thread! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/273489/the-ee-braggers-thread/12840#post_12210423 The Speckled Sussex were really hard for me to tell apart, but I would guess that is a girl. My boys...

Thank you for this information. I was always told the best Blacks are based on Gold (for the best green sheen) - so they would not work well in a Blue pen because of the gold leakage? Hence your comment on keeping the Blue separate from Black, even though the color CAN be bred together...
