I have an agreement with my Golden Retriever. I keep what is in the fence and I wont get too mad at you for getting what gets out. I would never get rid of my dog for getting ahold of a bird. I would however re-evaluate my fencing (or lack of). Unless you have thousands of birds, why not...
Thank you for posting that!!!
Can I ask a questionf???
If the ALBC created their own strain, that looks different from the others, is that what you need to win a judged show??? That bird was created by judges, wasn't it???
rustyswoman, Since they are day old chicks you can still box them up and send them to MN It's going to be mid 30's for the next few days.... a couple of those heat pads we put in our boots....... You're not buying it are you ???

What school???
Since you asked, it's about 10 below zero, 25 mph winds, and 8" of snow on top of the 2' of snow we already have!!!! But, we're fine. How is it down there?
It is a tail freezing blizzard again here in Okoboji. No travel advised and -25w/c.. When will it end...
Oh ya. I haven't been home in 2 days because instead of being smart and staying home, I choose to go to work (in Comfrey) because I wouldn't be able to make it on the roads. (Christmas drained me and I need the $$$$) They even shut down the State Highways and I90!!!

Not surprising at all. There are a couple hatcheries that are on BYC. They don't chime in when asked what strain they have. Trade secrets I guess

I said feet, not inches!!!
Oops! Sorry about that.
You're sorry??? I'm the idiot living here with 4' of snow in my yard
Alright, back to Buckeyes!

If you want to let you're Buckeyes out, just shovel the pop door out, and let them go. They won't care there is 4" of snow. LOL

good looking birds! I wish my flock could go outside. There is about 4' of snow in the run right now. Haven't even seen the pop door from the outside in a month!
What strain are yours?

No body is laughing at you for being smart enough to live in a mild climate. If I could swing it financially, I would have 2 homes! One further North right here in MN for the summers and one down south for the winters. I'm only 37 and every year this weather gets older and older

That was going to be my first question today. We hit -30 this morning (it's up to -27 right now ) and the chickens don't look happy. They are all just roosting and or eating. Can't blame them though, I don't want to do anything today either!
My guess is that they would do fine...
I was just looking at a price list I picked up at the fall show in New Ulm MN from Duane Urch. I never really looked at it before and must say I am a bit shocked.
The 25 chick minimum I understand, 90% of the hatcheries have minimums. What got me was the $6.00 a chick and $34.00 shipping...
