Got pictures of some of my Buckeyes (20 weeks old) and the coops I built a couple years ago. I think they will do well this winter here in upstate NY.

I hope ya's all have a great hatch.I just hatched out 6 out of 10 from rnau's eggs last night.I was hoping a couple more would hatch out,but still, that's not to bad for shipped eggs. Now the fun part starts with growing them out and seeing what I've got.I'm really liking these Buckeyes so far...

Glad to hear you had a good hatch Kathy.I got 1 dozen Buckeye eggs from rnau and he shipped me 15.Five were clear when I candled on day ten. That leaves me ten in the bator that go on lockdown tomorrow. If I can hatch another eight chicks to eventually combine with my first ten I will be thrilled.

I'm using 28% Game Bird Starter and planned on keeping them on it to about 20 weeks.I don't know if the excessive protein, being harmful, is fact or myth. Any other opinions on this ?

Well, my Buckeyes are 3 weeks old and I am really liking them so far.Very friendly with great personalities. They are unlike any chicks I have ever raised before. I can see why they have become the favorite breed of many who have raised them for awhile.

Good Luck with your hatch.I am setting 15 Buckeye eggs in about 2 hours. These eggs came from "rnau" so they are more of Chris McCary's line. Sounds like lots of Buckeye babies are on the way !!
