    ALABAMA!!

Help! I went out to feed and noticed one of my Black Australorp girls has a swollen eye! I don't know what to do! It's so swollen her beak is misaligned. Is there anything I can do to help her or should I have DH put her down?

    ALABAMA!!

My four newly hatched EEs are chirping up and storm and running around in the brooder like they're racing. They're in the next room and I hear them. It's so funny. I don't know why they sleep during the day and run marathons at night. So doggone cute!

The left one in the bottom picture looks like a rooster. As far as breed I'm not sure.

    ALABAMA!!

Wanted to show off all my babies. The two Bantams on the left are the two that were sick several weeks ago. They're perfect! And don't go anywhere without each other.

Does egg 4 look strange to anyone else? I found it pipped on the underside early this morning. It's moving and chirping but the outer membrane looks like it's drying out.

They are Easter Eggers. Though one of them, pictured below, seems to have puffy cheeks and a beard like the Ameraucanas do.

    ALABAMA!!

Good morning everybody! Sorry I've been MIA. We've been very busy here. Just got back from a camping trip and in the middle of hatch. I've also added six guinea keets to my flock. Well, they're in the grow out run until they're big enough to run the yard. They were just put on the ground two...

I didn't know that we had an option to vaccinate for cocci. I will have to remember that when I decide to order chicks. The two bantams I have in the brooder still are the only ones that I was positive had it. I treated my outside flock as a precaution.

    ALABAMA!!

Wanted to stop and update everyone on my recent bout of Cocci. Everyone is doing so well. I'm very blessed that I caught it in time and didn't lose anybody. My little Bantams are playful and energetic. Thanks so much for everyone's help. Especially ChirpingCricket!

I'm looking for hatching Blue Jersey Giant eggs. I'd like to buy local since shipping is so expensive.

    ALABAMA!!

Chirp, congratulations! She's a beautiful girl and equally beautiful egg! I candled a couple of my EE eggs last night. They seem porous. I'm worried that the rest may be also and wont hatch. I'm waiting until Wednesday, day 7, to check them all and see if I can tell anything other than where...

Oh and we compost under the coop. I stir it once a day and the chickens scratch around in it constantly.

    ALABAMA!!

We built ours. It's much cheaper that way. There's lots of options out there. Here's a picture of mine. And the yard pen that we move them to during the day until they're ready to free range the whole yard. We're making plans to set up three more large coop/runs to start our breeding...

    ALABAMA!!

Casio, you should definitely make arrangements for someone you trust to take care of them while on vacation or out of town. And teach them your daily routine. Even for just a day. They are more work as chicks. I didn't know what I was getting into buying week old chicks. The brooder is a ton of...
