My first couple of Silkys did not roost. When I had one who did roost, the rest followed the example. The only 1 I have now that doesn't roost is an itty 2month old chick.

We have a frost warning for Fri also. Last winter we had no heat in the Silky coop, large fowl house or the turkey house. My Salmon Faverol is the only one who had had a problem. Silkies fared very well.

Question. I just bathed my most favorite young cockrell & discovered he's recently developed a cross beak. I'd planned on using him for breedin come spring time. If I did, woule ALL the chicks inherite this bad feature?

I live 1.5hr north of Springfield MO. My first winter w/Silkies I used a heat lamp.Last winter I wintered 15 Silkies w/out any heat lamp. They ALL came through just fine, even on the coldest nights they were fine.

Love love love all these Silkys. Jaffa is my favorite. I've a little chick about 4 weeks old. Was all grey when it hatched. But now it's getting feathers that are coming in white. The wing feathers are grey & white, and there is some grey in it's little bitty tail fluff. Don't have a picture...
