In the pic directly above, the one on the left is a mille fleur d'uccle. The one in the middle may be as well...not sure about the one on the right. D'uccle are awesome little birds.
An image of the bird standing would be helpful. Have you seen this bird in person or just the provided images? I couldn't make a decision based on those images alone. Need to see the bird standing alone.
Haven't visited the silkie thread for a good long while! Here are some pictures of my two white pullets I will be showing this month, although they look a lot more mature now (pics about a month old). I produced these two late last fall. And then my lone splash hen...will be showing her too...
Thanks Sonoran and Aoxa...will keep you posted. He's in the same tub as three others but he is in a box within a box. He can see the others and seems
content.
Good to know it isn't just me not getting the hobble to work. Thanks!
Hi all, I have a chick that is having a hard time walking, one leg seems to splay out. I have tried the band-aid trick and he just falls on his face. I scrapped
that idea and have him in a box with a wash cloth secured to the bottom so he can get better footing, and he is managing to stay...
TYTT??
I have a hen that is a year old now and she has a good size comb...otherwise she is very nice. She is not a hatchery bird, but from quality so larger combs can happen...
Yeah, I think it was likely a freak thing. Thanks though - now I know a community child care center is not the best idea. lol I will separate from now on.
Huh? I am not asking if they will...I am stating that they DID. All of them - attacking the little black EE only. I watched it and saved the chick but I'm not so sure I should have. It is really scalped pretty badly. Silkie chicks are fine.
They all went broody together (I have four). One was a week later, but pretty much at the same time. I thought it was strange, but this was their first time
being broody too. Their first time and mine. All the eggs at the same time, all silkie but the three AMs I put in. I didn't realize keeping...
Has anyone had issues with silkies raising other chick breeds? I thought that some people used silkies specifically for that purpose... correct?
I ask because I had slipped three ameraucana eggs under my girls along with their own eggs and they killed one as soon as it hatched and I
managed to...
I DO think this is a valuable thread, certainly. I just wish there was a next level thread, so to speak. There is a big difference in loving all the silkies and keeping them as pets as opposed to wanting to breed quality birds for exhibition. The former is the majority however, so be it. Again...

Yes, that was my point. It IS supposed to be but it is severely lacking IMO. As for your other comments, I know. I have been around as long as you Hawk. Perhaps my new avatar is throwing you off;-)
