The second, darker one I would say roo. The lighter one, 75% roo, 25% pullet.

I think 3, 4 and 5 are boys. The other two... not sure.

We do 3-5 to one roo. Any more than that and we find that fertility drops. It does depend on the rooster though.

On some of my roos, the streamers are the ONLY indication that they are boys, they have the girl afro look. But I do have a girl who has a crest that isn't an afro, it swooshes back more... But she lays an egg. That was surprising since we bought her as a boy.

Snowball started laying this week! She is a little more than seven months old. I think it helped that we are finally getting some consistent weather unlike the rain-sun-sun-rain pattern we have been having. Now I just have to figure out which breeding pen to add her to in a month...

I like boy 1 also. I would test breed him and see if his chicks have feet issues. If they do I would not keep him.

We ordered a $10 solar light from amazon that does the trick for almost all of our silkies. We have a trio of porcelain that love to sleep on the ground though.

Exactly what I do too. If it looks like it has developed and has never had an obvious blood ring or infertile etc then it goes to lockdown.
