Ahh, o.k !
Im still learning the ins and outs of genetics.
I'm hoping she's a nice hen, the mix of the two are really easy to sex early on and are worth mixing if they grow pretty and productive enough.
Hobo is queen of the yard now and as such is the first hen to check out this latest round of chicks
She does have one in there, half Faverolles so she's going to be an interesting bird.:)
These seem to take a month or so hiatus then resume laying throughout the winter.
Hobo the eldest is molting at the moment, she hasn't produced an egg since the last week of September and is now in full hard molt.
She'll be laying again by Halloween even if she isn't completely refeathered...
I only have two, one is my lead hen and she acts like she is.
Towards people though she's a love.
The other one is very meek and very non confrontational, wouldn't start a fight if you paid her.
The little boy is obviously too young to see his entire personality yet, and he's half Faverolles to...
It took two long and if i'm quite honest confusing years but I finally have a chick from Hobo! I am almost certain he's male but I could care less i'm just glad to see him.:)
She is a really nice girl, very sweet and no trouble what so ever. :)
Ok, just thought it was interesting iv'e never seen a rose comb do that.
Nice to know what might be behind it, thank you.
Well Dutch is laying, she's a woman now. Got sort of an odd comb happening, looks like one side has been squished but just in a small area. I will take pics tomorrow, she's young so it might correct itself. She does have a really nice spike! Biggest thing she's ok with the rooster so I get some...
Well now you know at least one person does. Hobo started around the very beginning of the month. She stopped laying regularly around Thanksgiving so I knew it was coming. This is her first full molt and she's not a happy or warm girl. The good thing is the feathers are coming back in very fast...
Had my first bumblefoot ever with Hobo. It wasn't very bad she was a really good patient. Dutch is growing like a weed but that girl has the deepest voice! :)
Oh poor Dana! Both feet too.:( That little whiskery girl is a really funny colored salmon faverolle she really does look like an easter egger though. She's an oddball so she is perfect for my flock.:)
She's a doll! Anytime you sit on the grass that must mean you want some Hobo attention. The little one Dutch is following right along with her speckled sussex henchwoman Ethel.:)
So far Hobo is the most into the new girls, she's always first to go to the pen to chat. She loves chicks but dosen't go broody? Strange girl. Dutch is one month now and the boss of everyone despite being the smallest.:)
