Hey all.. Know it's been a while.. Looking for one pullet, any breed about 6-8 weeks old to keep a suddenly single youngster company. S. Titusville. Thanks
I just have duramyacin (sp?)... I can get something else if you guys think it would help. She FINALLY made a good poop this morning so I am satisfied that she is eating and drinking enough. I am going to keep her in a couple more days making sure she is putting on weight and keeping her...
WET POX UPDATE: Cleaned out Olives throat again tonight.. I guess this will be our lives until she is better. Swabbing the "plaques" with listerine q-tips and then scraping them out with q-tips and/or bobbi pins. Swap, scrape, swab, scrape.. Anyone else ever dealt with this and had a...
Yep, I have heard iodine works well for dry pox but I didn't want to put that in her mouth. Let me just say that taking care of a bird with wet pox is THE most disgusting thing I've ever done.. and this is coming from the woman who was squeezing pus out of a chickens eye a few weeks ago.. YUCK
My lovely OE that is fighting wet pox is doing well. After I cleared her air way of the nastiness in there (and treated with listerine) I was able to force feed her some scrambled eggs and Nutridrench vitamins. She's now eating/drinking on her own with some encouragement with yummy treats...
Oh no!!! its only ever my own dog that gets my birds unfortunately...he's killed two of my faves...(how the hell do they know?!) I've heard flushing with saline and getting some electrolytes and poly-vi,sol without iron. Please keep us posted!
Yeah I'm so frustrated. Not sure why I've had the bad luck this year... lost so much on chicks that didn't make it. Luckily I was able to clear my OEs throat last night so she is able to breathe now and is eating ok as she lives comfortably in my bathroom for a while. Fingers crossed that...
Pox is back here too.. wet variety this time. only one hen infected right now. My only olive egger :( Who near me has young/juvenile Marans and true-bred Olive Eggers (Marans x Ameracaunas). I need some color in my basket and thanks to my dog, cocci and now pox I am just.. ugh.. hopefully...
Hi all.. Been a while.. Lost a large Orp this week.. Guessing heat :( only have 3 chickens still laying right now too. An EE (shellies), Houdan and a RIR that just started laying this week. Everyone else is on strike.. This is going to be a loonnngg summer. Hope you are all fairing well...
Thanks! I ordered some from Amazon yesterday... Good news is that some of the ones that were looking ill yesterday seem to be doing better today. Maybe they are on the mend, building immunity on their own. Fingers crossed
Living in Florida with free ranging flocks where wild birds are on and off the properties makes everyone that has birds at risk for this unfortunately. I can't imagine that you would cull all of your beautiful birds if you had a handful of babies that were sick with a terrible but very common...
Thanks.. yeah all of my babies drink from a water bottle so that isn't an issue. They are in a wire hutch off the ground. After a break in the illness they started getting to free range a bit and are now sick again.. Guess I have to keep them locked up in the hutch until they are older. Need...
This cocci is going to kill me along with so many babies :( Does anyone near me know of a feed store that has corid? I used Sulmet and can't find corid. Called 3 stores and went to TSC and THEY didn't have any..
Frustrated...
Also, I have a lovely black silkie that seems to be a boy...
