Get up with Christy at County Feed on 20 just out ot town. She frequently has some good birds. I got some nice gold laced polish from her to start me off.
Last summer I lost one of my polish hens....found her after a couple days sitting on a nest of 24 eggs. There were only three polish to lay them so they had been there a week a week or more...esp since polish don't lay every day.

Didn't know that and didn't have a species name....just blasted brown toad that is poisonous to my chickens! ...but we knew we were talking about the same one. Is that the only kind around Florida that has those glands on its back and that is so deadly to them?
THey aren't much bigger than the standard brown toad just yet but I am going to clean out around the azaleas this winter....that seems to be where they have found them.

My dogs and my cats lay around in the yard with my birds but one morning a found a small kitten in the o shamo pen....I am glad I went out earlier than usual as I am sure they would have eaten him.
