Agreed. Whenever my Walmart has sevin dust, I buy all they have. They don't restock it reliably, and I HATE it when I don't have any on hand.

LSO: Folks--I currently have a glut of eggs---if anyone needs eggs to fill their egg orders, let me know. I am not really interested in seeking out new customers of my own right now. I'm lazy like that. I think I currently have 12 dozen eggs available.

I buy the big 50# bags at Western Ranchman. I think they were ~$30 a bag, last time I looked. I use DE as a preventative, but I have started using the harsher stuff when I see the infestation actually happening. Sevin dust for the environment, Poultry Dust for the birds themselves. Usually...

WARNING FOLKS: Time to go check your babies for mites and lice. I got stung by a scorpion last night, so I was dusting the house, yard, and coops. I picked up a silkie baby (from the NYD hatch) to double-check her, and SURE ENOUGH she had eggs on her. Everyone is getting dusted again...

And to answer Fuzzy's question: The eggs are white/pink tinted. The color of the chicken is chocolate or khaki. Usually, with chicken breed names, the colors in the naming describe the BIRD's color, not the EGG's color. The breed name also usually includes some basic information on the...

Kinda...about 1/3 of the chicks have come back silkied. I tossed in a white silkie, which bumped it higher. Of the chicks I have hatched (or my next door neighbor) I have seen 3 chocolates...all roos, I think. I am crossing my fingers on the NYD hatch one. But I have sent eggs to friends in...

I spent some time hanging shade screens on the coop and run today. I am trying to be smart this year. Instead of waiting until it is suddenly 105, I am just shade-ifying the chick runs now.

Chicks that brood together, hang in the hood together. Size will not matter, but the breeds you listed are all standard-sixed chickens.

You need to check the zoning on YOUR property. What your neighbors have will mean jack squat to the county. I would STRONGLY recommend you do not get chickens if your zoning says they are not allowed. It can be a very, very, very expensive and heartbreaking mistake. BTW: BYC rules...
