Call the DNR and get a nuisance permit. Then you can trap it or hire someone. Fox do not hibernate. It will be back. If I was closer I would trap it for you. I do know a guy in Crystal Lake that does nuisance trapping with a fee.
We are in Baileyville just south of Freeport. My son raises Orpingtons and buys other breeds to show at fairs. He then sells the ones he doesn't want to keep. Any breed you looking for? Kevin
I started another thread and some people are thinking I have a lavender gene in both parents somehow. I don't believe there is any chocolate in our birds. But you never know on Valentines Day. LOL.
CC not sure what you mean by self blue. Yea I agree there is something fishy going on here. The parents are from our flock. Here are some pictures of them. I will try and get better pictures of the chicks tomorrow night. Thanks for your input everyone. Kevin
We hatched some Orpington eggs. We have a splash rooster and black pullets and splash hens. We had 18 eggs hatch out of 20. 16 pullet eggs hatched and two hen eggs hatched. One of the hens egg was very cold when I collected eggs and it hatched. Also we had 3 pullet eggs that were older than 10...
You people need to figure out what is more important, your chickens or the predators that want to eat your chickens? Whatever it takes I would get rid of rodents and all predators that attack your chickens. You have to be the hunter, it's in your genes. Good luck
Coywolfs ? I don't think so. Coyotes will kill fox. Wolves will kill coyotes. If you can't take care of the critters yourself find a trapper or nuisance control guy. Otherwise you will loose your birds.
That is a mink. You are lucky the mink didn't get into your coop, they can do lots of killing. An owl will not scare hawks away. If the owl did kill the mink, it did you a favor. Good luck. I trap and hunt all critters. They have to be thinned out. Kevin
