What a great idea ! May I suggest you put hardware cloth at the base of the walls to prevent predators from reaching in to get your chickens. For sure, put hardware cloth where the roost is against the side.

I am so sorry for your loss. I do know how you feel. I am starting to lose some of my elderly ladies too. And I am pretty sure some of them died in sympathy of their lost friends. Chickens are very instinctive.
