We are going to eat these but i will let her hatch some in the future. These are my first geese so from the info ive found & a few others told me she can lay 40 +++ a year. She is still pretty young so im not expecting too much yet. Love them though :)
bhaugh - There are tons of chicken owners in the Eugene & surrounding areas - you will fit right in :) Roo's are not welcome in the city limits of most towns but get a place with property right outside of town & your good
My hens have been pretty warm too. I spray their run area down at night to help cool things off, lots of fresh water during the day & they love the watermelon treats. I have even seen them in the goose kiddie pool walking around... silly birds ..
I picked up my new geese a few days ago :) I told myself i was going to be good this year & not add to my flock of hens ---- So i kind of stuck to the plan
I only keep 4 nest boxes in the coop & all the hens use 1 or 2 ( like in many coops ) i collect daily check them all just to be sure . Well the bottom nest - NEVER used EVER Ever in the past years. So today as im collecting - i check them all & get to the "never ever used nest & there is a pile...
Hello & welcome :) Its not true that Oregon hates Cali. I did move to Cali for a few years when my husband was in the Marines. Great place to visit but glad we are home. Salem is about 1 hr north of me. You will find lots of friends on here & once you move & settle in - no worries. Best of luck
Mine have the coop & part of the run so they are "dealing with It " lol. Not happy though because there is no free range activity - makes for unhappy fluff butts. Eggs are still coming on our end as well so super happy there. This weather is just nuts
