I have some mixed bantams, roos and hens, that I need to get rid of. Crosses between Silver fawn Old English, D'Uccle, Lemon Spangled hamburg, and Silkie.
most of these birds are carrying the dun or lemon/cream gene.
Free pairs, one roo, one hen. Must take a roo with a hen.
My original, very heavy feathered birds came from Ideal. That was four years ago. Since then, I haven't received such good quality. I then ordered from Meyers and was disappointed as well. When I'm done with my color experiments, I hope to get some great quality birds. I have a wonderful rooster...
Got in a mild car pile-up on Rogue river highway last night. The road leaned to the left and so my car just kind of slid that way... Anyway, minor damage and all were nice as we waited for SOMEONE to start sorting us out. Of course, all emergency peeps were way too busy to get to all the...
I just bought a crapload of those cheap Lixit bottle waterers. Turkeys took to it in a second. Chickens are a little slow but I see a few pecking at them repeatedly. Today I came out to the coop to find most of them empty, so they are learning! This way, I can add the electrolytes and vitamins...

I got half my turkeys from Plum Run and the other half from Porters. Both breeders seem to have more than usual split wing. It must be a turkey thing, because I buy my d'uccles from hatcheries all the time and never get split wing in that breed.
okay, I just looked at Porter's website and all...
Do they have turkeys at shows? I know they weigh a ton and so it is difficult to bring them, but after recieving over half of my turkey poults with split wing, I'm thinking some of these hatcheries that claim to be heritage, need to work on their quality.
I do only the D'uccle for show. Everything else is just a backyard chicken for egg production for my neighbors. I do have a color project going. it's bringing the lemon coloration to the d'uccles. Here is the color I'm striving for, and what is currently in the d'uccles at present. The bright...
Anyone else here dying in the heat? My birds look so tired in this heat. I even bought a kiddie pool to dunk them in when I see signs of too much heat. My turkey chicks, on the other hand, love when I squirt their yard, they play in the water. D'uccles run...
