Went to the show in Salem and had a ton of Fun!
Guess who won the Turkey Pair in the Breeder's raffle this weekend!!!
They are super friendly and I can just pick up my tom and carry him under one arm.
I also got a new purse for carrying around my favorites!
Beaky!
Petroleum jelly doesn't kill chickens! We use it for diaper rash for god's sake!
But then you rub elmers glue sticks on your chickens instead! That also contains petroleum products, so...
Moot Point, and I guess we'll both kill our chickens then!
Oh, and BTW I use Olive oil which really is...
Just saw the post. I'll be typing all of my posts in pink for Breast Cancer! Also changed my avatar!
I'm excited for the show in Salem! I sold my Dominiques finally and will be delivering them there, so have an excuse to go.
I'll be raising cute chickens for a while and showing my Seramas...
Too true! Never compare a call hen to a regular duck. It doesn't cross over.LOL
I love my call drakes, but can't stand the hens. I have my eyes on Aussy Spots or Mini Apples.
They always go to my neighbor's $2000 newly lanscaped yard to scrap up bark chips. And last time I brought home new hens they disaapeared and when I found them they were sleeping on my neighbor's $50,000 camaro and left absolutely the biggest pile of chicken poop I have ever seen on his $3,000...
Don't put her with the tiny chicks, but since she is only 6 weeks old and is the only chick in with the old hen there may be some problems. You can put her in a cage or another pen, but it is probably best if she's away from the old hen.
They'll be lonely for a little bit, but should be fine...
When the 6 week old pullet is about 14 weeks old you should be able to put her in with the older hen with fewer problems. The babies can be put out with the older birds when they are 14 weeks old.
Problem solved.
They'll survive being lonely for a few weeks.
The USPS will sometimes refund your money if you got the box from them and everything was dead when you got it. But you need to do that real quick.
Not sure on other policies, but this is why it is important to open boxes when picked up.
Sorry to hear about this, though. I bet they were...
When I had problem mites I treated with horse ivermectin paste. It got rid of them and it lasts about 5 months most of the time.
A pea sized glob given by mouth is all they need. Then give one 7 days later as a follow up dose.
I've decided that no production meat bird will ever set foot on my farm again for many reasons: (I will state that these are facts I have learned that have turned me off from these birds and that I harbor no ill feelings toward those who raise production meat birds)
1. They are an unnatural...
I'm so excited for the poultry swap, cause that's when I'll be selling my show birds and getting my first batch of "Cuties".
Breeds lined up are Bantam fav., bantam naked neck, apenzeller spitshauben, and a little PQ cochin pullet.
Sadly the rules for this are left up to the discretion of the people in charge of the show or the fair. Their belief is that if a bird is dusted, the lice will just die off and it won't be a problem. When in actuality the lice run off the dusted bird and onto the other birds not dusted.
The...
