Good to know @Sonja73 .. over here in Central Oregon there's next to nothing as far as vets who will treat chickens or diagnosis for that matter. I was so glad I found her site!
I just this morning ran across this website on FB....I have GOT to bookmark this one for sure!

Yes it's a miracle when we can catch them for sure!! Here's a short video that is the absolute BEST way to catch a chicken...and it works!! I posted this some months back and several members emailed me to thank me and all told me they couldn't believe how easy it was!!
Wishing you all the best!
Hello again, sorry I didn't get back to you til now...busy time!

Did you mean to say a 2" x 4" board? As your girls get mature there's no way that will be sufficient. And you really don't have to be able to take it down at night to 'seal' them in. Believe me, that will get real old...
Hello Newberg from La Pine!! Your little fuzzy butts are too cute and your coop is, too! If your hatch turns out good you'll definitely need to expand on that tiny run area for sure...have any plans for expansion yet?
Nice job for sure! My understanding after looking at all your pictures is that they enter up into the coop through a "stairway" setup through the floor (?). That's fine, but you need more ventilation! The only ventilation I can see is that which will come up through the opening in the...
Well, that kinda depends on just 'where' in Oregon you are planning on moving to. Oregon has an abundance of wildlife, 50% of which are predators. Here where I live in Central Oregon we have everything from raccoons, weasels, fox (occasionally), lots of coyotes, and cougar.
Anyone else been getting down to freezing at night besides me? Here in La Pine it reached 38 two nights ago, and last night it was 34....winter's coming!
You guys be careful! This rain of recent days has helped some, but there's a few still going strong...be careful and have an 'escape plan' in place for both you, family, and your animals, too!!
Gee, sounds like you're under-staffed at times..eek! Our day shift consists of 3 line cooks, 2 prep cooks, 2 dishwashers, 3 waitresses and a hostess. Our swing shift is 2 line cooks, 1 prep cook, 2 dishwashers, 2 waitresses, no hostess. Graveyard is 1 line cook, no prep, 1 dishwasher, 1...
How dejavous is this!!??? I, too, work at a restaurant!!! I work at Gordy's Truck Stop & Restaurant. We can seat 90 in the main dining room and our banquet room can hold 55. It has been non-stop for several days now as firefighter crews make their way to their destinations up and down the Hwy...
Yes, there are a total of 8 wildfires going right now, 2 of which are here on our side of the "hill" in Central Oregon...aaack!! Everyone stay safe out there!
Yes it was thankfully cooler yesterday, but today? Today over here we're right back in the mid 90's again...With that feeder put it up on a cinder block or just wood blocks of sorts..that might still help some.
Do you lay your feeder on the ground?? If so try hanging it and you won't have that slug problem hopefully.
As for your chickens overheating. What I do is run my sprinkler on low so it just hits inside their run area by about a foot or so. After awhile I move it to a new 'spot' and as soon as...
Pretty dang hot over here in Central Oregon...yesterday topped 97 and this week all high 90's predicted. I'm keeping mine fairly comfortable. I don't have a mister but I put my sprinkler on low to where it just hits inside their run by about a foot and keep moving it around. No sooner do I move...
