VERY CLOSE CALL WITH A FOX JUST A COUPLE MINUTES AGO! He was almost clearing the pen which is about 6', where the girls were freaking out. No damage on the ladies just a little petrified very thankful we didn't loose any :)
The girls are all ready for tonight! Can't wait for the warm weather to roll in ASAP! Some have frostbite which I was expecting but overall they did pretty good!
I just went out and noticed most of the girls combs were starting to get that frostbite color. I put bag balm on and then put them in the coop, I plan on leaving them in for maybe an hour or two. They don't know when to call it quits.
I put a heavy blanket up against the wall where the girls roost and I am giving them cracked corn before they go in for the night, I think they should be good.
I'm stuck between not putting a light in just for tonight and tomorrow night or not doing it at all. I was thinking maybe just putting either a 60 watt or 100 watt bulb in just for some added heat. Any thoughts??
The girls haven't tried coming outside yet, probably waiting till it lightens up a bit, I don't blame them. I've been checking on them and they are still laying!
I put some bag balm on her comb last night hoping it would act like vaseline. This morning I checked on her and it seems that the darker part towards the end of her comb is red like the rest hopefully it worked.
