Hope everyone has had a lovely Merry Christmas! And praying the New Year offers health, happiness, prosperity and rain for lush grasses and gardens. Last year in Lincoln County, we had drought that dried up ponds, hay and pasture fields and our garden. We were able to purchase 100 bales of...

This year my broody girls may end up having a higher % on hatch rates than my incubators. There are 7 hens in the barn that refuse to break even though I am collecting eggs twice a day. I’m going to give them marked eggs and let them cover the eggs. So far the first incubator hatch produced 4...

Our neighbor had a 5 year old cow die during delivery of a huge bull calf in his back pasture. She prolapsed and bled out. Another neighbor across the fence saw coyotes and shot at them to drive them away from the cow and newborn. The owner lives in Edmond and comes to check his herd twice...

Same here. The ponds are overflowing and the creeks are roaring. The ground is saturated and too wet to plant so I have a shipment of hostas heeled in in a tray. More rain coming. The carpenter finally delivered the kitchen cabinets for our remodel. The painter is scheduled for Tuesday or...

The February freeze killed our hive. From where did you order your nuc package? We had a mother bobcat raiding my breed pens a few years ago. She was caught on camera with the kitten she was teaching how to hunt my caged birds. Later a male showed up. Cage traps are good for the...

Our Propane manager said propane use went up in January and February from 3% use per day to 5% per day. And there was actually a propane shortage and we were rationed 100 gallon at a time until the roads cleared.

Finally survived the -30 windchill temperatures in February with calves born in the extra hay we put out. Breaking pond ice was difficult. Now have 29 calves and more to pop. Only had a drip in a frozen water line to the washer in the garage even with a heat lamp. Easy fix. We ran out of...

I apply a little to the combs using a soft cloth then I rub it in. This way it cleans and softens the surface and the rubbing invigorates the blood flow in the comb. Wyandotte do not have a large standup comb. Instead the rose comb lies close to the contour of the head.
