wry neck is different for rabbits than it is for chickens. It is caused by a pathogen, cocci is one type and I believe there may be a virus as well? Have you googled it? Poor wabbits :(

I may be looking for a nice, well-well-mannered older rooster for my flock. I really like having a guy around for the girls, but so far they've all ended up as not-so- great to the girls.

on a humid day, it would make life miserable. I believe the rule is above 85 degrees and below 45 humidity. But I'd have to check on that.

I don't think we disagree... Person admits their shortcoming in being incapable of caring for the animal, so they weigh their options. Do they find rescue (which is undoubtedly overburdened as it is), try to re home (which almost always winds up in a constant cycle of rehoming, birds being as...

the problem is that often the birds just wind up being re homed again and again and again. It's much harder on the birds than on the people. I know it "seems" that choosing life is always the best answer, but in practice, much like communism, the theory falls short.

cool. If you get a chance to get some Epsom salt, it's in the laxative section, or maybe first aid? Probably laxitives. It's really handy and is useful for more than just bumble foot. (They did all these cool upgrades for the mobile version, like...showing that someone has edited something, but...

someone just made a post about a natural cure for bumble foot on the natural chicken keeping thread. If I come across it again, I'll send it to you. My silkies (the ones that roost) roost up about a foot and a half off the ground with no issues (better say yet here, hopefully, God willing, it...

or just put up a wind break, then they can have wind blocked from all sides. As long as they stay dry and protected from drafts, they'll be fine. Having a "spare bedroom" always comes in handy for surprise issues! I don't really know anyone with "spare room" when it comes to their chickens lol.

I had my first experience with chickens having to put down two suffering chickens. (Long story, if you wanna know it, you can pm me, but I think I've spoke about it before. now, I'm able to euthanize them, but I've only fed them to other critters (dogs, cats, snakes) and haven't been able to eat...
