Hi guys! Gosh it’s been ages since i checked in here how is everyone, can see heaps of new names which is awesome.
I’m sharing everywhere cos I’m so excited! Had 10 little speckled Sussex hatch today, I love hatching, it’s so much fun, even with the downsides.
Proud chicky mumma spam
Popped the egg with wobbly aircell in a cut egg carton so it’s fat end up, so far it’s still developing, day 10 today.
Another dilemma though. They are due to hatch on the 3rd and I have to be in Brisbane (3 hours away) on the 4th so we were planning to go the night before. I don’t know what to...
Hi guys! Been a long time since I dropped in! Life and all that.
Have a question about a detached air cell. I only have 2 Pekins these days and one has gone broody so I got some eggs from my aunt who has the last of my original flock. Day 7 tonight, 6 in incubator 6 under hen, so far all bar...
Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure cho was caught by my pup, It's so hard to be patient and training takes so long when my chooks lives are at stake. I'd hate to have to re home my pup for this :( all I can do is make sure the coop is secure and not let them range unless the pup is tied up and I'm...
Loving all the new chicky photos guys!
Sadly cho just a day after I put her back in the coop got out again and this time I didn't get there in time, it must have been while I was still in bed because I didn't hear anything :(
But on a more positive note the 6 chicks I got are growing nicely, I'm...
Hi again guys!! How are you all? I haven't read all I've missed sorry, I would need a year haha
Dropping by to ask for advice on dog bites, cho takes it upon herself to get out of the run every morning, my new pup often chases her despite my attempts to deter her. This morning she managed to...
Hi guys!!! It's been forever. Over 4000 posts since last time I was here :/ read some about broody doves then skipped to the last page lol
I haven't been coping with single mumming so well hence the extended absence. It's been drama after drama, one of which has been the neighbours making...
Thankfully I am broody free too, a good 2 weeks now, I'm back to 5 or 6 eggs a day with 7 hens, Lily appears to be going into moult, she looks awful, but still laying, if somewhat smaller eggs. My little araucana chick went to his new home yesterday. He's to have a harem of his own when he's...
Hi guys, long time no see, I've been having a world of trouble with this site on my phone, I've written a few replies to posts and they just never post, forget about adding photos (I could be writing all this for nothing again :/ )
Heard some immature crowing this morning. Would you believe...
Haha I'm no help after insisting that there would be no more chicks this year i now have agreed to take in 9 Belgian d'uccle chicks!! The guy was advertising his whole flock for sale so I contacted him as I know how much he loves them, and in the end he said if he can just give the chicks away...
Wow so much has happened
To those integrating chicks. I asked a couple months ago and was told that laying hens should not be eating medicated feed, if they do you cannot eat the eggs. Plus they will waste a lot and the chicks could miss out on the essential nutrients they need, If you can...
Wow teila your girls are spoiled! I just chuck all food scraps out the kitchen window for them to do what they wish lol. I do break up big bits of bread but otherwise it's however it comes.
I will start integrating my chicks when they finish this bag of medicated feed, they are only separated by a mesh panel so everyone is used to each other already but I don't want the layers eating the chicks food,
With Cho last time it happened accidentally she got over the fence and the...

Hi guys just popping in to say the chicks are 4 weeks old today and I got some pictures for a game of "rooster or pullet" will put some photos in the appropriate forum once baby girl is in bed and share the link here if you'd like to play :)
Cho and ginny are still broody. I think I'm going to...
Omg that are so tiny!!! Gorgeous, I love when they sit on mummas back :)
Hubby let the girls out at 4pm yesterday and was in the garden with them when I got home at 05:30pm they all came running up the path at the sound of my voice “Mum’s home!!” .. such a lovely welcome, it felt so good and...
Been trying to post this since yesterday. My app is still clutching since the update :/
The chicks were 3 weeks old yesterday and had their first free range while I extended their run.
Still have the 2 mums but they have very defined roles, fleur is the mother hen in all sense of the term...
,
Have to agree there, I love my Pekins but both the little cows are broody right now, Cho only just started laying again after the last time!! They're so cute when they fluff right up and squawk at me when I go near the nests.
Welcome lavender11 hatching chicks is addictive, be careful!!
