    We used a hanging waterer with a nipple with our first brooder (55-gallon fish tank, pics are in this thread) a couple of years back. Worked great and really liked it. In fact we have a 5-gallon bucket with a gamma lid on top and four nipples on the bottom that is hanging in our main run now...

    Last year's makeshift brooder as originally set up. After getting tired of cleaning out the water many, many times a day because they were kicking bedding into it, I rigged it so it could be hung. When they got older, they thought it was fun to perch on top of the feeder. So... Feeder 2.0...

    Finally broke down and rigged the feeder to hang also. Figured it would keep them from kicking as much bedding into the food and that it would keep them from kicking as much food into the bedding.     Using a big fish aquarium. It was free. Just built a cover out of 1"x4" lumber I had laying around and chicken wire. Had to buy the chicken wire, the heat lamp, the feeder, and waterer. Add wood shavings for bedding, 5 Rhode Island Reds from the local farm store, and voila... low cost...
