This is just a video I posted out on my channel.
But, you can see that just after having the chicks for a week, they have really grown! They will be ready for their coop in no time!
I have added bricks since then to raise their waterer off the ground. It has stayed much cleaner now.
It does depend on the store, but even where I'm at, southwest MN, the manager said he never had so many calls asking when the chicks are coming. I got lucky and ended up stopping by the store to pick up something when they came in. I bought four and the guy behind me bought the rest. Others came...
Oh wow! I never thought of using a dog crate for a brooder. And I have one sitting in the basement I thought about selling too!
I did come up with another idea though.
I started with an old metal tub, which was obviously too small. You can see it in the video below.
