Like DC said add protein, but also add light to the coop. I usually let mine rest for a couple months then turn the lights on, eggs will follow with protein and 13 hours of light. Good Luck!

Just be careful with what you buy. They were closed earlier this year with some disease issue. May be a good thing as the state is likely all over it now.

    MARYLAND THREAD!

I am in Caroline County as well (don't have any bantams just large fowl), but I would shy away from the auctions. I would usually suggest craigslist for our area, but being the time of year the ads have dwindled and many of the hens have stopped laying for now.

Wish I had known in the spring. I had 2 hens I gave away in the spring when I dismantled and sold off my flock of SFH.

    MARYLAND THREAD!

Ducks do not need to swim, but do need enough water to clean their bills with every so often. Regarding the conditions and such I have no solution. I do not care for my poultry that way, but then again maybe he cares for them well after work, gives them a deep water bowl and such in the...

Than get the A/I done at the same time 10% of flock or 30 birds which ever is greater, beside that's the easy part other than having to be done once every 3 months. You may want to consider going for the training to be a tester in February in Fredrick or Salisbury.

That is likely your best bet (getting the whole flock checked) just incase something happens to one of the birds you want to show you could use another.

The NPIP tester will place the numbered bands on which ever chickens you are showing. The P/T test and results are done on the spot, as long as you are showing in Maryland and live in Maryland no A/I test is required. You will likely have to separate those birds tested from other non-tested...

I would check here under Worchester county. http://marylandpet.com/pet-scoops-animal-news/publish/maryland-animal-laws.shtml . May want to check with Berlin town zoning as well. Most of the Eastern Shore is pretty loosely regulated at the county level, but the city or town codes may...

    MARYLAND THREAD!

The hard part about buying from someone local is they are not going to be able to guarantee hens more than likley on RIR, unless it a sex link cross. I know the Middletown, DE TSC had Red Pullets last week which were assorted Red-sex link and possible sexed RIR. Then again if you feel you may...
