Definitely getting cooler, won't be long til the water needs defrosting on a morning. The war with mites seems neverending, on the verge of just setting it on fire and buying a new one. Spent a few hours cleaning it and treating it then found this when I needed to refelt above the nest boxes...

I should have put my answers in, I asked if he wanted them dropped off or if he's picking them up and he's replied pick up. He's not paid, he's offered 3x what I wanted and the stuff about the RSPCA just seems a bit... Off.

Might as well buy a Brinsea for a couple quid more than what people are charging for it to be honest. Got my hopes up today thinking I'd found a buyer for some chicks but then I'm guessing it'll be a similar scam to where they send a courier and claim it got lost in transit.

Has covid raised the price of the normally cheap Chinese incubators?! This seems manic!

Do you want them for eggs or pets or eggs and pets? Personally I'd go with commercial browns. They have a great temperament, plenty of personality and lots of eggs too.

It's funny how many people have taken up walking and cycling as a hobby! The babies are growing up so fast. Can't wait to find out the genders so I can get names sorted.

That is amazing how far peoples stupidity will go. Where I work limited it to one 18/24 pack per household. We tried one per customer but we had too many people going "Well there's three of us so there's 3 packs". Also while I'm ranting, the idea of opening up an hour early for the elderly is...

Glenda the silkie has gone broody again, hopefully she stays put and I've managed to get four eggs for her on short notice. The best case scenario is four hens but it never happens that way. No idea what colour of silkies I'll get since the advert says "Mixed colours including black, white...

Sorry to hear that. Yeah they are. If I had more space I'd have gotten more since they were £5 each. I think there's going to be more wind and rain before it dries up.

Is everyone surviving storm Dennis then? Lost one hen to sour crop and had to give away my white star boy since he was just too rough with the ladies. But I've picked up replacement... Little bit misled about their age and it'll turn out to be one boy and one girl instead but for now I'm working...

Seems like winter is here! It's too cold and frosty and it's horrible. White Stars are lovely birds. I'm down to one boy now but he's a cool guy. Rat problem is still mad, traps ain't triggering and I'm a crap shot. The neighbours aren't helping either. They have a rabbit enclosure where...

Foxes need to eat... but not my ladies! We are getting over ran by rats here. They are in my neighbors trees, under my mother in laws bird feeders, trying to get into my chicken run! Counted 8 out once DURING THE DAY. I’m not going to poison them and I’m trying to shoot them but can’t aim for...

Why do vet fees be so expensive? £40 for a consultation and a half course of antibiotics. £27 for a second consultation plus whatever I need for the rest of the flock! £15 for the prescription if I can get it cheaper online, it’s ridiculous. Has me bloody foaming. Hi new people :)
