Thanks Jemima, I am sad but that is life as a chicken owner. On the good side I now have a broody hatch about to start! I managed to pop 5 of my murdered Araucana eggs (not sure what the dad will be though so hopefully some easter eggers although 25% chance it is the Araucana roo) and a few of...

Have you managed to bring her in in the warm and separated? She does sound very thin. I think if you bring her in and do as CCUK suggested with food and adding to her water to help give her a boost.

Oh no! Have you given her a good check over? Crop - full / empty / feel normal? Any swelling in the abdomen? Vent area look normal? Breathing? Bad breath? You need to separate her straight away - if she has something contagious you don't want the others getting sick too. Pics? Your best bet will...

Have a good feel of her tummy and see if it feels distended / soft.

That suggests she is not eating - she should have the solid darker stuff too (which is the poo, the white is the 'wee'). Can you watch her if she is, I'd consider seperating her so you can keep a close eye on her inside or at least close by to you. Can you feel her heel bone and see how thin she...

Thanks. I guess I'm a bit unclear about the 2 - is peritonitis not caused by becoming egg bound, followed by perforation of the tract and then of course leaking into the abdominal cavity? So I guess what I'm saying is yes I suppose it is peritonitis but is the cause of that the being egg bound...

Wow that is pretty cheap! We pay around the €10 - up to about €15 but I always try to get it on offer at €9.90 - wouldn't pay €15! I bought good heavy small bales for €2 / bale and have also had crap light ones for the same price! Eek that is alot. Was that just using the grass etc? I look at...

You make it sound so appealing :lau:lau:lau I have heard that it can be like that! I was a Rotary exchange student and when we had our training one of the stories that we were told as a warning of what not to do was about someone who had been to the US a few years earlier. They had noticed the...
