I'm Derbyshire and take mine to Bakewell vets- they seem to know what they're doing. You need to see which vets deal with farm animals as well as standard pets
Almost the end of the month for the non high risk areas
The ducks beaks are looking slightly swollen/ sore right at the top. It's more noticeable on Jemima with her light coloured beak and she seems to have a few more black dots than usual around her nostrils. Could it be a fungal infection? X
So glad to hear the good news about your sister and the silkie! And glad to hear that somebody is as mad as me and will go to extreme lengths for their birds
I watched my two this morning and when they got up they ate a fair bit of soggy sawdust rather than their food!? What's that about...
Thanks! Yes they're both still eating and both are laying daily still which is why I'm not too worried! Jemima is moulting at the mo... Little, whispy bits of down everywhere!!! X
Just layers pellets and then bits and bobs like tomato as treats. Just this past week they seem to be a little lighter and their chests aren't as plump... X
Have anybody else's ducks lost a bit of weight? I'm sure my two girls have. Is it normal for this to happen in winter? Or is it due to the bird flu lockdown? We're going to get them some corn and more treats tomorrow. I really can't wait till they're allowed out again x
Wow! Well done Barbara, that's impressive!!!
It's been a while so just caught up on loads here. Been busy bathing ducks etc
I've just started sketching again after about 9 years and yep- my first portraits are the ducks
Also... Anybody else utterly in love with Duncan the Duck on the Aldi...
Yay! So glad!!!
All this Crazy weather has had me glad that mine gave been in the garage safe and sound! We're extending the house this year and knocking the garage down so goodness knows what we will do next winter or in the case of another bird flu scare! X
To be fair he suggested going back to giving them baths once we had to take the paddling pool away from them because of the bird flu! They get so excited that we just have to keep it up now. They spend about 1 hour preening afterwards too! They love being clean! #spoilt
He thought id maybe...
Oh no! Sending lots of hugs. Just think how lucky he was to have you! The terrible thing about having animals is having to say bye but all the days with them make up for it X
This plastic sheeting from BnQ is a god send! We've used one roll that was really cheap for covering their pen, covering the garage floor and our floor in the extension so they can come in for a run around and not ruin the carpet. I'd highly recommend! There's still loads left too! I might go...
Our two have been kept in their pen and covered with plastic sheeting since the restrictions were first in place. Now there are more cases of bird flu in the uk we have cleared the garage this weekend and put heir pen in there. Luckily it's big enough and gets lots of natural light. Everybody...
Oh a massive fingers crossed! I really can't wait for the restrictions to lift and for the longer days to come in so the poor girls can frolic in the garden again! I feel like all I do is clean them out at the minute and to relieve my guilt I bring them in the house for half an hour a day to...
