Watering, weeding, planted beans, zucchini, cucumbers. Can't mulch until we get warmer. Sprayed spinosad on kale and collards. Something in making holes in the leaves.
We have a mole control company hired. So far have caught 3 big ones. The one tunneling through my raised beds hasn't been...
That would be Tromboncino zucchini. It's a vine, very delicious, and can also let mature for winter eating. I don't have the fencing for it here, did in Texas. Take that, SVBs!
Thinned apples but not done yet. Watered, weeded, and getting beans, cukes and zukes seeds out to germinate and plant this week. After being gone for a week, came home to dahlias almost all up, tomatoes thriving, more things sprouting. The mole catcher caught the second mole before I left. Cats...
I feel for you. Nasty bugs. I once injected soap water in the stem to kill it. Seemed to work. Glad we don't have those here. Squash grow like weeds. We have a saying that goes like this. Don't leave your car doors unlocked during zucchini season. You may find a bag of them.
Weeding and watering day. That's all I had time for. Will be going strong after tomorrow, no pressing commitments. Have to do another round of bed weeding. Masses of baby ones sprouting. Time to get the onions mulched.
I don't think we ever tried to grow regular potatoes in Hawaii. I hope you succeed. Sweet potatoes love it there. Check with UH agriculture Dept. They might be able to advise.
I finally broke down and bought the spinning bases. Game changer in the sun department. I agree with the watering, but alas, the hose works fine, and no slugs!
Look up fusarium or verticullum wilt. I believe you have the former.
It's so sad when we have to destroy plants we've so lovingly and hopefully nursed along.
Have been repotting house plants. Watering things, transplanting bok choy. Trying hydroponics again, didn't last year. 60 here, the rest went between my potato rows. Lots of weeding, and DH rototilled the big garden. Ready for tomatoes and cucumbers, beans in a few weeks.
