My lemon tree Is moved outside every spring but it definitely needs that afternoon shade and since it seriously needs repotting I often have to water it twice a day. Luckily that's easy since it's right outside my front door and my dehumidifier needs dumping at least twice a day.
Love the attitude! I'm in my 70s, 5'2 and almost 100# and I still say the same things, lol. My house is located on a hill, about a 30* slope in the front yard and a 40 degree slope in the back. Gardens and coops at the bottom. I'm either hauling things up or hauling things down all the time. And...
doesn't help you at all at this point, but the youngest any of my black or gold sex links died was 9 1/2 years old. 3 generations of them same story. Not enough data to prove it, but I swear they need more protein than any other breed I've kept.
Thanks for the tip on DelMonte products.
My huckleberries are garden huckleberries, related to tomato plants and grown the same way as tomatoes. They taste nothing like true huckleberries which are delectable. These take a bit of work making them edible, but I'm working on it.
I'm told true Montana huckleberries don't transplant well...
I took the compost from the house to the compost pile, turned on the fans for the chickens and came back in and stood under the air conditioning vent! The humidity is so high out there I can't breathe. This might be one of those days where I only work 10-15 minutes at a time. C'mon fall, I'm...
I don't use bug spray either. What's the point of growing veggies without poisons if you're going to spray poison all over your body? Thanks for the tip.
That Sicilian eggplant you posted looks good. Quit growing eggplant years ago because it didn't freeze well after making it into eggplant parmesana, my favorite dish with eggplant. Might try growing it again after seeing that recipe.
Figured out what to do with those huckleberries! Didn't work, flavor wise, as a pie filling by themselves but adding 6 Tbl. of grape juice concentrate to that filling and turning it into a fruit crumble it was wonderful. Now I gotta figure out something I can do with it without those seeds. Some...
Don't give them a chance with your chickens! They will totally eviscerate a hen and that is a vision you will never get out of your head. I used to leave the door open when the girls were free ranging so they could go in and lay or get something to eat, not anymore! Usually they're only around...
Have 2 gallon bags full of garden huckleberries already, gosh those plants are prolific! Planted 4 of them this year as an experiment. Made up pie filling with some of them today, yuck!!!! Do not like the taste of them. Added grape juice concentrate to the filling and cooked down again and that...
Thank goodness you posted pictures, lol. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what a t post was and how you would use it to support tomatoes. As soon as I saw it I understood. (I use a lot of tools and stuff but have never learned correct names of them apparently. They're all doohickeys...
I'm so sorry! That is such a hard role to have to step into. Been there, done that with both parents, and a mother-in-law. Please know that there is not one person on here that would mind if you need to vent once in awhile.
