Wow that's crazy-- i wonder why they're selling so late in the season. But I really think you should go back and get some. ;)

Honestly I'd go find a good hatchery online to find the birds you want because I have had zero luck finding anything out of the ordinary. You'd think Colorado being so country and ranch loving we'd have way more variety but I haven't found it. I also haven't found terribly great breeders here...

Thanks. Having read and read and read and even spoken to someone very knowledgeable about chickens it would seem my lavenders had Mareks but having had culled them and unknowing of the cause I destroyed the birds and never got a necropsy. So I guess I'll never know at this point. The rest of...

They'll be fine without heat. Let them acclimate to their new home without additional heat. If you want, have a space for them just in case the weather is too brutal for them and they need a day or twos worth of shelter to tied them over. I never heat my coop and they're just fine. You may...

I have never heated my coop and while my rooster did have some tip damage on his comb, no one was worse for wear. Keep them out of the wind (and this goes for all animals and plants and trees) here in Colorado and they'll be fine. That wind is brutal.

It won't be the bomb that ends the world but a bad autocorrect between two world leaders.

I can't sany for sure but it certainly seems that way. We had six lavender Orpingtons and five of the six all fell "ill" with the same issues. None of my other orps had this illness but the seller/breeder gave me useless advice and then just stopped calling me. Anyway, ar these birds the same...

Hi everyone...been trying to read up on what's been going on ... this thread is insanely long. Anyway, having a bad chicken day....after losing all but one of our lav Orpingtons, I get a text from the neighbor telling us a hawk got our remaining orp. She escaped the run...how I do not know...

Hey all...looking for orpingtons besides the standard buffs....looking for maybe four hens and possibly a roo if he comes from a calm lineage. I live in Parker but am willing to travel a big. Looking for peeps or young adults in the spring....can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks...

Good day all...I have a young rooster (not even a year old yet, hatched this spring) who is a terrible rooster. He seems nice, looks good but has been pecking off the feathers of my hens and is causing them to bleed. Yep...he's got to die. I do not eat meat (allergen issue) and cannot process...

Thanks...I have to say the wife and kid were mortified when they found him. I leave for work very early and my daughter noticed he wasn't crowing as usual and she found him in a terrible state. I feel so badly. I don't neglect or fail to take proper care of my animals and I still have no idea...

Hey peeps...how's everyone' so locks doing? Mine are good except for one major issue...I had separated my roo from the hens as he left them featherless on their backs and while he was protected in a smaller coop, something managed to get in an get him! I was mortified. His name was al and was...

Morning everyone, Had a loss this morning. Not sure why or how it happened but it was our most lively chick that was born a little over a month ago. They are all feathered out a lot...that goofy stage where they seem to be all wings and legs and not much else. Her name was Lucky. I found her on...

Good snowy morning all! Here in hidden village parker we have about two maybe three inches of heavy wet snow. I went out to check my hen and her nest and the three peeps I had alive yesterday remain so and are fuzzy and happy with mom. The final egg quite literally fell open during my...

Hey guys, been a while since I was last on here. Last time I had a hen hatch peeps in the dead of winter and while she did her best only 1 of 3 survived. Pepper the peep is now happy among the flock. The reason for writing today is that I let an older hen who is perpetually broody finally have...

Thanks for the kind words and support all... I put momma Seaweed back in with the remaining peep (she wasn't keeping very good care of them which is why I removed her but she has been around them the entire time). The remaining peeps seems lost and scared and so I put momma back in and the peep...

Hey guys.... we lost one of our two peeps today :( Well probably last night some time. Cause of death is unknown-- just found her dead. The remaining peep seems a little frightened and alone....so sad. With the storm coming, everyone will be inside the coop anyway so she will have company...

Hey guys-- geez...ran in to a serious issue tonight. Momma hen Seaweed has turned into a lousy mom. She ignored her peeps most of the day and thankfully it was warm. The peeps laid in the sun and doze most of the day it seems. Anyway, i found Salt stuck between two layers of wire and she...
