Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Reposting here since the HAL thread is crazy busy. So my little chick that's out is bowling with the other eggs! The one that is trying to zip got rolled over. Ugh!!!! Will it be okay? At what point would a zipped or pipped egg need to be turned the right way up again?

I have a pip!! I have a pip!!! Eeeeeeeek!!!! "She's" chirping too! I don't know why it pipped so high? This one had a perfect air cell. And it drew down lower than my last pencil line too. Totally won't be sleeping. Bator is in my bedroom and I just hear it chirping away. Lol my poor husband.

My humidity is at 61% right now. When I woke up it was 58%. It always drops at night. Should I add a little water to inch closer to that 65%?

My incubator is teasing me. "Nana nana boo boo". Lol that's what I imagine it's saying. I slowly added more water today and watched the humidity rise. I didn't want to do it too fast bc I wasn't sure how much water would be needed to hit that 62-65%. Well, ya know where it's at? 60%. Ugh!!! Like...

Great idea!!! Wish I could have something like that rigged without having to open my incubator top.

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I just weighed, candled and traced air cells. Pulled 1 clear Marans egg. Added all my weight loss's and then averaged them. My average is 13.1%!!!! AND it really appears as though the majority have "drawn down". I could see the chick in the back pushing up into the air cell and the front had...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Day 18 today for me!!! And I woke up and spent a good 15min staring at the eggs... saw more wiggling!! I'm going to weigh and candle today and then we'll see what happens. If I see that draw down or an internal pip I will raise humidity... otherwise I'll recheck tonight or in the morning by just...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

oh that's great to know!! yay!! I can't wait!! Now I just hope that they will all hatch! I'm going to be a wreck if I'm seeing some that aren't hatching or taking a long time. I also figured out a way to set up a live stream camera so I'm gonna do that too once "action" starts... eeeeek...

wow that's a lot'a eggs!! So puuuurdy!!! Okay that sounds good. I will take my turning tray out tomorrow and turn the turner off. I won't raise my humidity until I see internal pips. So to check for internals at this stage in incubating do you just hold a flashlight up to the eggs once a day...

@Sally Sunshine , wondering - I thought I recall reading that you stop turning your eggs on day 17, instead of 18? Is there a reason for earlier stopping of turning? Tuesday is day 17 for me so that's why I'm curious :)

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I think you're right!! I think my average must be close to 10%... granted some are higher... but some are also lower. Okay just calculated. My average is 9.90%!! Wow you're good at estimating based off those air cells!!! I will just continue on with keeping my humidity in the 40's! THANK YOU so...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Okay finally had a chance to candle, weigh and mark air cells. Here's where I'm at... (ignore the one Marans egg with the huge weight loss - the original weight was not correct and I don't remember what it was). And I accidentally deleted one of the Faverolle weights ugh... now I don't remember...

I definitely should've hopped on to say something and I'm sorry. Last thing I want to do is waste anyone's time, especially from you two who are helping me so much.

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

So sorry!! I was waiting for my little one to nap and then 10min into his nap I got the dreaded phone call from the school nurse :-/ I wasn't able to do it at all. I am going to do it this morning as soon as my husband gets up to watch the kids.
