Popping in to say Hi! Crazy busy w work and school about to start for my 10 yr old child. My bators been empty and stored for a month. All my chicks are growing out and I have or will give over half that I've hatched to family and a local BYCer. I'll end up w about 10 chicks/pullets to...
I came home and the chick was dead. The others seem fine. That's the first chick I've ever lost like that other than the crossbeam I had to put down. I hope the others are okay! I have two cream legbars in there!!!!!
I have a three week old chick that's still in brooder and never been outside that just sits in the corner doing the whole squaty neck and looking tired all the time. All others look healthy and they are on medicated feed. This started with the last 24 hours. What do you think it is? Thanks!
Too high throughout incubating, correct? I look forward to hatching winter/early spring here in FL as I feel I will get better results with the lower humidity then. Now that I am getting more to lockdown, I hope to improve humidity control and, therefore, hatch rate. It's the scientist coming...
Hmmmmm, I wonder if I should try that with my next hatch if I can't get humidity down. In my eggtopsy, the chicks looked big and wet but couldn't get out. If careful and timed right, I don't think it would hurt. Bator are put up for now though . . . unless I find something I can't live...
Someone omen me and said they have had their WFS for two years and their experience is that WFS are flighty nervous birds that aren't very people friendly. They aren't Jeannie aggressive just not friendly. They stated at two years now the hen lay an average of 3 eggs a week. Just thought I would...
My bators are washed and about to be stored. Half of my hatches are going to family this Wednesday night. I will be growing out about 14 other chicks plus caring fir my 5 adult birds. I have plans to finish my grow out pen and the coop for my adults with a run. I'm still looking for a...
Some breeds are auto sexing from hatch, others can be feather sexed and still others you almost have to wait until they lay or crow. Lol! What breeds are they.
Yes, it is normal to have a green first poop and great that it pooped at all. You want them to poop soon so you know plumbing is working and not stopped up. Best wishes on your chicks!
I am dividing my extras between family members who want them for eggs as well. I am also going to give a few to a new BYCer in my area. I won't sell or give away on Craigslist.
