Looks great! I can't help but think after the chickens peck at it thousands of times it will eventually come apart. Maybe put a screw in each lower joint just to be sure. If you need to use the parts for plumbing you can turn the pipe so the holes don't overlap.

Looks great! They're probably scratching the chips out because they're dropping food there.

I only have 24 hens and a rooster using the 5 into 1 system right now. I have 11 chicks to add, but will be building a separate coop for the Easter eggers (5 hens, a rooster, and probably 5 chicks) soon, I hope.

Depends on how big you make it. Mine is 5 tubes going into one and holds about 60 lbs.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. If that's what's left, they'll eat it.

You can also cut back the tops of the elbows so the chickens don't have to reach in so far.

I tried using the top of a bleach jug as a funnel, but it was too slow. The milk jug scoop works fine for me, but I am using 4" pipe, so it's harder to miss.

I cut the bottom off a 1/2 gallon milk jug at an angle, leaving the handle on. With the cap on, it is a scoop. With it off, it's a funnel. When the feed bag gets low enough, I just lift it up and pour it in the top of the tube.

Be sure to seal all the joints. Water can and will get in, if it's outside.

My original idea for a watering system had aquarium heater(s) in large PVC pipe with nipples, attached to a cooler and a circulating pump. Unfortunately, my experience with aquarium heaters shows them to be somewhat unreliable, and prone to internal leaks. I may revisit the concept using a...

Northern WV. 0*F last night, maybe a little warmer in the barn where the coop is. The 250W stock tank heater kept the bucket of water (with a loose lid) thawed all night. So far, so good.

Had to abandon the barrel/hose/pvc pipe waterer today. Even inside the barn, covered with tarps, with a ceramic heater blowing warm air across it, the vertical nipples froze shut. Now using a large bucket with horizontal nipples and a small stock tank heater. Took the first girl about 2...

I've been thinking of making a larger tray, but it's not a priority. They all seem to get plenty to eat.
