I use a 90 and I had an issue one time in two years. I would also add that the issue came from me leaning the pipe as you are here in your photo's. Make sure the pipe is centered and you can try a 90. You want them to be able to peak at the feed in the elbow. That seems to make sure things stay...

That is the idea behind it:) The more they peck, the more the feed drops! Good observation!

I would agree that bring it up higher should help for sure:) Look how they scoop it out. They can't scoop it out as easy if it is higher! Hope that helps!

Good job:) One thing, this may not work vary good unless you have air being able to get into the bottle. Other wise the water will not come out. The bottom works great for me and I can control the air flow but loosening the cap:)
