My call ducks aren't "friendly". I mean they tolerate me walking around them and they'll eat out of my hand. But normally no food means they have no interest in me. For the last few days my oldest guy has been kind of following me around. And tonight he wasn't in the coop and was making a...

Looks like a wood duck. If it doesn't "find it's family" right away, you should catch it and bring it to a wildlife rehab or experienced duck personm

That is funny. I was laughing and my husband and kids asked why. When I told them the story, they said "I don't get it".

What do you mean by "bonus chicks"? I do the ordering for our local feed mill. We order from a.couple of hatcheries and we pay for every chick we get. Very rarely, they'll send an extra common breed chick if I get a large order.story. meat birds are usually a different story. There are...

Mink are a very dark brown. And beavers are great! I don't think people really realize how important they are to the ecosystem. We have 26 acres along the Apple river. I have a ridiculous amount of predators. Mink, weasels, fox, coyotes, hawks, raccoons, owls, the neighbors piece of crap...

I've decided to sell my hens. They're like dinosaurs running around the coop and the run. They have a tendency to step on the poor little call ducks. And one doesn't go in at night. It will end up raccoon or coyote food.

Someone in Siren, WI is looking for a tom (probably not a mean one) she's willing to trade for 2 bourbon red hens. All of her poults this year were hens.

All breeds are "impacted" by temps that cold, unless you have penguins. I don't supplement heat for my LF chickens, but extreme cold is hard on them.

I think I'll have my heat lamp set up in my insulated coop for the bantams. That's just too cold.

My coops are 8x8 and 6x8 with 3/4" treated plywood floors on blocks. There are back-to-back, with a pop door connecting them. They each have a regular exterior door, a pop door and a window. Then they have an 8x8 covered run off of the pop door and and 30 x 30 run built off the back. I...

Me too! Even if they somehow think the food produced in safe, how can anyone think that all those chemicals being sprayed aren't having a negative effect on the environment?
