    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hello Everyone! I was wondering if anyone will be hatching Salmon Faverolles this year? I would really like two chicks when we get our others and this breed is one I’ve wanted the longest.

I totally agree about the fence. We have a real fence for Fiona, but I've been thinking about the wireless one so that she could be with us in the front yard as well. I'm working on getting my husband to agree too but ultimately, its easier to justify them containing their dogs if mine are too...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hello Again! I can't thank you all enough for the comments about the neighbors' dogs and all the suggestions. I love not only my dogs but actually theirs too. Our one dog that is "free-range" is the first dog I've ever had just roam, but I think we will get a wireless fence for him as well...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hello Everyone, I'd really appreciate some advice from people more experienced than myself. I have now lost two hens and had two others attacked in my yard after 3 years of being able to free range on our property during the day only. We have a great coop and a large run, but I love seeing...

Thank you both. I will check it out. My hen is about 2 1/2 years so I don't think she's too old. She's on of the Cochins that I got from one of the other peeps here on the page from Lebanon. She's been a great layer and she's really pretty but the shells are thin lately and just cracked looking...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi All, one of my hens is consistently laying eggs that look like this. Do you have any ideas why? They have access to plenty of fresh water, organic feed pellets, oyster shell, and free range in our yard about 6-8 hours per day. Any ideas are appreciated.

I just wanted to give you an update. I believe they found a petting zoo for her (the same day I posted her pic) but I showed them some pics you have posted and they agreed that you would be a great option if the zoo doesn't work out for any reason. I believe they also have several so she won't...

. They do like her but would rather she live with others in a pet home that ha knowledgable owners. They really don't want her to go to a home where she will end up being stuffed in a house in South Carolina (that's what they said). Is stuffing them big in SC?

Can anyone tell me if this is a peahen or peacock? My neighbor found and has been taking care of it but doesn't have much information. Do any of you raise them?

Hi All, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for getting together and bringing such yummy food to the Chickenfest. It was really nice meeting and talking with you all. We stayed an extra day up North, so I am just getting back online to check things out. For everyone that didn't make...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi Flylady! I don't mind the clutter ;-). It was really nice having one thread to search when looking for Indiana stuff. Chickenfest was wonderful last year and we had a lot of fun sharing pics with members who weren't able to attend. It's just my opinion but I really hope people can share on...

I forgot to tell you guys about all my broody girls. When I first got my chickens and people said that Cochins were super friendly Mamas, I never gave it any thought...its probably the only thing I didn't think about when the chicken fever struck. They were only half right in our case! Mine...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Good morning everyone! It feels like I haven't been online in forever. I just wanted to say hi and I hope you all are well. My DH has been working out of town for a couple of weeks so I have been really busy keeping little kids happy. Our chickens are doing great even with the heat and the...

Some could also include that they provide a more healthful egg alternative to members of our communities. As if this fall, I should have enough eggs to donate to our local food bank and our homeless shelter. At least one of the hatcheries will send an extra chick in your order if you tell them...

Congratulations on your first egg! That was absolutely the most exciting day of my year last year, so I hope you have many more in the future. Welcome! That is such good news about how your sticks grew. I ordered a Honeycrisp and a Rome apple from Starks this year and they are cute little...
