No not yet. You have a couple more months, but, you seem to have a sizzle (smooth feathered silkie). I have a black hen like that. So watch for saddle feathers and hackle feathers to come in pointed if it is a boy. Could be a few more weeks before you see it though.

Well when your Oegb hoards your bantam EE and her daughter who is EE and polish's eggs, fathered by your bantam black cochin roo, you have no idea what is going to come out of little green eggs. I put them under a silkie who had more coverage for 10 eggs, and last night they started hatching...

I will have to do some measuring and get back with you. I dont remember. They were all individual boards. I believe the backs are 1x4's. We built the square, screwed the 1x4's onto it and then built the X after and screwed it on. If I remember right. No seal just painted them well. The chickens...

Quote: If it is a cochin it will have a straight comb. That comb looks pea to me. I think you have a black Brahma.

Silkies tend to hatch earlier than other breeds. I make broody lock down day 16. I stop taking them off the nest to poop (sometimes they go anyway) and put food and water right under their noses. I've had silkies hatch day 19.

Reuben turned into a very nice beardless roo. He comes from show stock, you should consider showing him.

Anybody on here from the South whitley/ Sidney area? If so I have a non chicken related question for you. I have been searching for a horse I sold years ago. The woman that bought him, sold him a few years later without telling me. Anyway, she can't remember their names but said it was a couple...

Hey all. :) We are dealing with fowl pox here. Stupid mosquitos! Well at least when its over they won't ever have it again. I just hope it runs it's course soon so I can get the coop sterilized before it gets super cold. I have vaccines on their way for the non symptomatic birds. Hope it gets...

If you are referring to large fowl silkies, there are non in the US that I know of. As far as a well known or large amount of birds. Shari McCollough is in Crawfordsville. She doesn't use BYC. I am the administrator of the FB BYC page, and I believe she is a member on there. I raise breeder...

Hey guys. Okay so Chicky's silkies.... for starters, the bottom is a bearded partridge roo. Now the top bird in her pics is questionable. I am leaning boy due to the red in the wings. However, I'm not seeing the comb I usually see at this age. A full body picture is necessary to be sure. Also I...

OT but does anyone know who buys black walnut trees in northern Indiana? We have several we need to get rid of before fencing the horse pasture in the back of our property. Thanks!

For advanced cases of coccidia you need sulfadimethoxine. (Albon) First state vet supply sells it. Corrid won't touch advanced coccid. It's just a vitamin blocker. You need a sulfa drug. Peter Brown runs First State, he is the one who instructed me to use it. Saved my chicks. lso I use...

If you want to hatch shipped eggs with your broodies, let the eggs sit after arrival an extra day to reattach air cells. Since the hens turn them, once they are under them, the eggs won't have a chance to sit still long enough to stabilize. Just my 2 cents from using broodies on my shipped eggs...
