I aleeady sold my first batch. So I started another yesterday. I am going to have to hang on to some of them. I have calls from gundog enthusiasts who want year old birds.
My final numbers are 25 alive and healthy. 1 backwards and splay legged died. 1 dead in the shell. 18 never started to form. Pretty good for collections below freezing. Congratulations on all of our new babies!
I placed coturnix eggs in the bator on 12-29 thru 1-3. On day 21 2 of the eggs due last Tuesday are hatching 5 days overdue. Silly little birds. Dont give up hope.
mine did too. And cots can be very peckish. EVERYTHING that cannot defend its self. Poor thing I had to keep putting it back in the bator which was sad cause all it wanted to do was cuddle.
I lost my backwards peep. Last night. I knew it would happen. And I had one die in the shell after peeping this morning:( Never had that happen before. But all the others are doing well.
10 degrees here at 10am. Was down to -5F last night. Duccles and coturnix all fared well. I think these banties are tougher than given credit for. Belgium is cold. Right?
We are still going here. I miscounted thought I had twenty empties. Only nineteen till a few hours ago. Found another little gold cot in the bator. My backwards baby is still struggling along. Brooder during the day. Bator at night :( I bet his mama is the hen that runs backwards when she gets...
Its scratching and irratic taps. Not consistant. Once it breaks thru it then begins to peep. He is all the way iut a beautiful golden either Italian or Manchurian.
