IMO they aren't good examples of the Barnevelder hen, they are not double-laced. This pattern looks like the pattern of the partridge Brahma to me.

During the meeting we also discussed double mating. Other countries do double mating for the Barnevelders, but in the Netherlands this is not necessary. It is not necessary, because of the black breast colour of the cockerel (only a black breast colour is allowed in the Netherlands!)...
In the Netherlands we currently have problems with the tails of the Large Barnvelder cockerels.
These are not complete, they are missing the sickles. Maybe it is because of a feather grow clog/brake, we don't know for sure.
Wrong tail
Correct tail
In the Netherlands the following colours are accepted.
Large and Bantam:
Black
White
Double-laced
Double-laced Blue
Double-laced Silver
In Germany they have also other equal coloured Barnevelders than Black and White. They have created the Red Barnevelder, but to me it is a RIR.

Hello Karen,
I do not know who invented the code Ar +, but it is proven that a not sex-linked (autosomal) red factor exists.
Wild Brown, is that the colour of the breed Altstreiers? The females of this breed do have a dark salmom breast.
Autosomal red exists in different shades, it's all about...

She deceased in 2008.
Her book about keeping poultry has made a run to the Welsumers after it was published.
You can understand why when you look at the cover.
Ar+ = Autosomal red
Autosomal red confirmed/connected to the salmon breast of Bankivapartridge hens and golden hens in the foreground/ground colour. Autosomal red is an incomplete dominant gene. Incomplete means that the dose is the same as in a complete, in two doses. It is written with a...
The name of the breeder is A.Voorhorst. He was a teacher and lived in Welsum.
With help from a poultry consulant he has set the type/appearance for the Welsumer.
His grandson, J.Voorhorst lives in Welsum, he is a member of the Dutch Welsumerclub and got some Welsumers in his backyard. He is not...
This is also a good chest, but her chest got more light shafts. Both hens have won a prize on the Dutch poultry show called "Noordshow".
In the Netherlands a lot of Welsumers got light shafts in their chest. All judges make a comment about it when they are judging the Welsumers. It is a point...
I also prefer to go with the Standard of the country of origin for every breed. But even in the Netherlands we have made our own Standard of some breeds from other countries (Wyandotte, Bielefelder, ....)
How did you get the information about the higher tail of the British Welsumer, that...
First: those are not dutch exhibition Welsumers. I know the breeder, Harrie Pelgrim, very well and this birds were for sale. But a man from a magazine passed by his house and took some pictures.
So this isn't the best quality we've got in the Netherlands. And by the way, one hen on this photo is...
