Mine get to free range all day too because all of the large hawks don't bother to come up here with plenty of alfalfa fields to hunt. Plus the waffles, mealworms/darkwing beetles and loads of other goodies they get. Seriously spoiled. Then when I'm out of town my neighbor watches them and they...

My ducks have never been snuggly. They are spoiled brats We are even in the process of creating them a 500 gal above ground pond. No appreciation well other than the fact that they all turned out to be girls and give us each an egg a day without fail.

Yes I know about dominance play like I stated they were doing in the comment. It's not that that was throwing me off.

Is it possible I got the sex of one of my ducks wrong? I thought they were girls because they are at six months all honk quacking (nothing raspy about it) and none are sporting a drake curl. However today when one was mounting the others I noticed it was using its tail like a male would and when...

We are zoned residential but have a little over 1/3 of an acre. There are no specifics on keeping ducks as pets. Just the raising of them as livestock. So they have the right to file an official complaint but did not do that. They just called in anonymously to let the authorities "know" we have...

So haven't been on much because I'm downright depressed about my ducks right now. A neighbor that has been harassing us about everything she can since we moved in called the authorities on us for our two accidental roosters and for some reason our ducks. There is no laws against having pet ducks...

Framing of our ducks enclosure is finally done and their stall of course. Just need to wire it now and put the doors on. Then put a roof and sides on their stall. I made a Dutch door for them so only a19" tall opening will be there during the day when they are out. Figured it would make it just...

How fast have you removed him each time? The other drakes weren't top of the pecking order so maybe they just weren't trying to get in a top position. I'm curious if you have left them with him for any extended period of time to see if they work it out on their own.

She already said the black one is a Cayuga. She wasn't referring to the fawn and white one in that photo.

Of course. You're good for trying your best to do something for them.

That could be. I imagine they won't eat until they burst. They probably need the nutrients. Especially since they obviously didn't have the right diet before. Have you ever used Brewers yeast mixed in their food for niacin. And peas are high in niacin as well. I bet after a few days or a couple...

So the duck I rescued from the pond that I thought would end up being a boy made a quacking honk sound today. If it ends up being a girl I officially have the opposite of luck everyone else seems to have This was from when I first got it. Thought the green bill was a giveaway and it sounded...

edited because it didn't show me the newer posts or photos I'm having a hard time seeing in the photos if there is a slight upturn or a definite curl a boy would have. If they are both "honk" quacking they could still be girls. They are much louder than males. At least mine are. Mine are way...

Everything I just stated is a repeat of what she put in her post. And chemical poisoning is illegal in many places for a reason. But I'll drop it. It's just something that is upsetting to me. I personally love Ravens, crows, Hawks, owls and eagles and would never kill one.

Those must be some pretty starved Ravens That is an extreme situation though and not always the case. Like I said when you have tried other options and are still not having success then it makes sense. I just don't see it as the first step ever. In this case the bird was able to go all the way...
