Well, it's been a week since my gal broke her leg. She is eating some but definitely losing weight. I put her in the yard with her other duckies and that made her happy I think (she was in a cage). I also put her in a tub of water and she was able to take a good bath. That always makes them feel...

Well, she laid the egg today. We go back to the vet in the morning for the splint. I'll bring that that egg plus others for them. Not sure how she broke her leg but it is a pretty bad break. The vet had to do some research and make some calls to figure out what to do for her. He thinks she will...

Trip to the vet and an x-ray. Her leg is broken (thigh). She's home resting and hopefully it will heal okay. The vet never had a duck in his office before. Bless his heart. He and his team did good with her. He wasn't sure if he should pin it or splint it. So for now she is home resting and just...

We're going to the vet tomorrow at 9 am for an x-ray to see whassup. She is eating good but still limping. I'll let you know what the vet says.

She is in an area by herself and resting. Her left leg is sticking out. It just swings; completely useless. Sigh.

She seemed fine Friday night when I put them up. There are holes in the yard where they have been rooting for "yummies". Maybe as she was going in the duck house she walked in one of the holes and jarred herself. Or maybe somehow she banged it in the duck house over night. Not sure but I sure...

One of my Black Swedish has been injured. Not sure what is wrong exactly. She is limping very badly. I think it is her hip. It is swollen at the hip; leg/foot seems fine. I can touch it and feel a big "egg" on her hip that wasn't there last night (she was injured last night too) so it is just...

I was thinking L.D. (Little Duckie!) Sure is precious. I think baby ducks are cuter than chickies but they all are cute! Is it a boy or a girl? I named my drake Disco (You may be too young to remember the song, Disco Duck!)

I have Black Swedish and Black Cayuga and Khaki Campbell and are very pleased with their egg laying and their personalities. The Khaki is a male, Disco

I saw it! The baby ducks were in their nest in a hole in an oak tree and they were just one day old when they jumped 70' to the ground! They were an ounce in weight I think and off they waddled into the lake. Amazing!

When my drake was killed (Cayuga) that left 1 female Cayuga and 2 Black Swedish hens. They were all about 1.5 years old. I got a 7 month old Khaki Campbell drake and they harassed him for about two months before he finally manned-up. I had to keep them separate for a while because I was afraid...

Well, we're cold but not that cold thankfully. 2 degrees this morning and up to 18 today. Yes, you'll have to wait until spring to build something for them. I kept mine in for a while too until I relaxed a bit. I'm always scared to come home to see if all are okay. I have bobcats here too as...

Sorry for your loss. I lost my drake last fall to a weasel, I think. The gals were laying in the nest next to his dead body. So sad. Hope you don't lose anymore. I was so afraid, and am still, of 'whatever' coming back. I have my yard area fenced in 5' high, electric fence and 1/2" hardware...

I've found my ducks are very easy to get in their quarters for the night. For the winter, they're going up a 8' ramp into their end of the chicken coop that is 3' off the ground. They seem to be very easy to herd. Now the chickens, they're another matter!

Yes, my female Swedish was mating the other female Swedish with Disco, my male Khaki Campbell, watching and wanting in on the action I think. I've seen them do this a few times before. I don't think it is anything to worry about. Other animal species do it too (human and animals).

Thanx. Will scramble him an egg and give him some peas. He's downstairs quacking up a storm! My poor bunny down there is like, 'geez, will you be quiet?!' The cats are like, "he's back again?"

Can I feed him some scrambled eggs? I am going to bring him into the basement.
