I know! There are like 5 hawks that flock about in the corn field next to our place. They've been SUPER active.
They mostly keep to the rats in the field, but they creep me out when they fly by.
Gonna set up a nice 60'X30' aviary with old shrimp nets as soon as I can get em
Those Kahki Campbell ducklings!!!♡
@ MissLydia thank you for the reply
Yeah my muscovies are about two years old. They had not been laying til now. None have gone broody.
We had a hideously hot summer (several days got to 100-104) and I lost my male to a racoon or badger. I think maybe it's...
I have 5 muscovy girls, whi laid prolifically all of last year (2015)
3 Kahki Campbell girls who I just got from a friend maybe a year old, and a male who is like 4 years old
3 cayuga
4 magpie

Been mia cause I got depressed after those predator incidents.
We pulled the entire floor off the coop and found 12 rats living in there GRRRRRRRR!!! No wonder Odin wouldn't stop barking and all my babies were taken!!!
We dug 3ft down around the entire coop and placed mesh wire set on cement...
Deep so. Texas, we have everything, mostly black garden snakes, the kind that eat rattlers, rattlers and water snakes.
My cat kills a rat almost every day, the ranch is right next to a corn field
Yeah we had em all set up with a bulb and a kiddie pool with hay, feeders, etc. I ordered them 2 months ago and I was waiting for them so eagerly and happy. I even cooked some rice for them yesterday.
I really just can't figure it out. We have that 1cm mesh wire stuff all around. The carpenter...
I don't know if we should strip the coop and rebuild or just bring the whole thing down and build a new one. This is so frustrating and sad. We're all edgy and sad right now...
I'm so sad. I got 9 chickies and 6 ducklings just yesterday, they were soo cute and i started naming them. I had a new run built and the coop fixed up and this morning they were all gone.
I looked all over the coop. There is no holes, no sign of break in, no feathers, nothing. I just don't know...
So I'm getting some sweedish blues next week and I'd like to order some good egg layers.
From experience, would you recommend 1) Khaki Campbell 2) Welsh Harlequin 3) Other
I like calm ducks and loud cackling. Are Campbells really "nervous"
