Is there something different with digesting barley from other grains?

Before the pond froze over. They now spend all day around the pond drinking from the un-frozen edges (when it's not too cold outside). They dream of these days...again....soon.

First year with ducks over the winter. Going through more pine shavings now, but will have plenty of carbon material for the gardens, which was lacking.

I have noticed in the making of our ponds, that the tendency is to go bigger than previously planned. We started with a 50 gallon pre-formed liner, now we have two ponds connected by a waterfall that hold about 5,000 gallon water total.

Interesting. Our lower clay lined pond held water last year, but this spring noticed it would not, so instead of making the clay thicker, decided to just get a liner, and dug it much bigger. There's no filter. I need to get some updated pics, since just re-arranging flagstones on the...

Beautiful! Is it lined with clay? Our ponds are also connected by a waterfall, with the water circulating the same way.

@FaerieGlynne Please explain what the pills are for. Most important is to keep their wounds clean, and keep them comfortable and protected. If you have to, modify their house so that no predator can ever get at them again at night.

Does anyone know of pond plants that ducks will not eat?

You could be sensing that there is something wrong in general, not necessarily the eye. I believe twice I've experienced with my chickens looking into their eyes, and something seemed wrong, and shortly after that chicken was sick.
